Chrome friGate is an extension installed in the Google Chrome browser, designed to gain access to blocked sites. This is possible through the use of a proxy server. After enabling the add-on, the speed of web surfing does not drop.

Frigate is not only able to bypass blocking, it is capable of encrypting traffic to the site. The extension optimizes the website. The add-on for logging into any website is installed on .

Principle of operation

At the time of accessing the site, the plugin checks the access speed of the Internet resource. If the speed is too low or there is no access at all, the user is redirected through a CDN node. It should be noted that the nodes used by frigate free are located in 5 countries. If the website does not use a secure HTTPS connection, then the traffic is encrypted at the time of redirection of access.

In the add-on settings, the user can specify parameters that allow optimization and compression of information to occur without loss of original quality. If desired, it is possible to add websites through which resource speed is checked. This is done in the settings.

Advantages

Unlike other similar extensions, freegate is enabled only when access to the site is closed. Add-ons released by competitors to all sites are accessed through a proxy. "Ship" helps the user only when necessary.

The obvious advantage of the add-on is that it uses only dedicated proxy servers. Connections to free and public servers are excluded. Thanks to this, the loading speed of websites is always fast high level. In addition, server overload is eliminated. In addition, using other people's proxies is considered unsafe.

The chrome browser with the frigate free extension becomes an indispensable Internet browser for both users and site owners. Thanks to the plugin, everyone remains in the black. Resource owners will always receive clients, and users will even end up on a blocked website.

Flaws

The frigate free extension has several minor drawbacks. Many users are not satisfied with what is missing automatic update. You have to constantly check yourself to see if there is an update. Of course, this is not difficult to do, but sometimes you can forget, which means there is a possibility that a useful update will be missed.

Some users visit national domains. The Boat add-on does not support them. This means that after blocking such a domain, users will not be able to access it even through a proxy.

How to download and install

To download frigate and then install it, you need to go to the Google store, then enter “frigate” in the search.

After a moment, the search result will appear on the page. It's best to choose frigate add-on CDN. It is located at the very top search results. After selecting the plugin, you need to click on the “Install” button.

Frigate is a special type of browser extension that redirects incoming and outgoing Internet traffic through a proxy server. Such access to the network allows you to hide the real IP address of the computer and bypass the blocking social networks at work or access blocked sites in Ukraine.

The principle of operation is quite simple - by entering the address of a web page, the browser accesses the address not directly, but through a transit server. All traffic is encrypted, preventing the ISP or FireWall from identifying the content and blocking it. Visually it looks like this.

The extension has two versions that differ in functionality, so before installing, let's look at the main differences.

Difference between Frigate CDN and Frigate 3

As the developers say, the third version of the plugin is created for advanced users, and CDN is a more mainstream product. But during installation and initial setup it turns out that this is fundamentally wrong.

Main differences:

  • Frigate 3 has a smaller set of features, most of which are configurable during installation. It is not possible to change settings from the program window;
  • In a CDN, access through a proxy server is provided only to sites added to the list. In the third version there is a choice - use the list or connect via proxy to all resources;
  • The advanced version does not have the ability to disable the display of advertisements from the creators of the plugin.

The choice of which option to use is yours. For my further review, I will build on CDN, since it has more than 900,000 installations worldwide and has many fine-tuning options.

In addition to Frigate, there are a number of extensions with similar functionality. You can find a complete list in our review -.

Downloading and installing Frigate

Like any other popular extension, Frigate has a huge amount clones that threaten the security of your PC. The installation file must be downloaded only from the official website - https://fri-gate.org/ru/.

1. Open Yandex.Browser and visit home page extensions.

2. Select the plugin version to install, left-click on it and automatic installation will begin.

3. A new icon should appear in the upper right corner of the browser. Click on it to enable/disable the extension.

4. Go to the website 2ip.ru - check if the computer’s IP address has changed.

We have checked the functionality and correct installation, let's carry out the initial setup.

Frigate Basic Settings

As we found out earlier, the extension is activated only when you open a site included in a special list.

1. Right-click on the Frigate icon and go to settings.

2. Create your own list as shown in the picture.

3. One by one, enter the addresses of the resources that need access using the plugin. Most popular sites have additional services on subdomains, so you should put “*” in front of the address.

After adding to the list, check that the actions are correct - open this site in a new window.

Due to the peculiarities of the Yandex Browser engine, the add-on does not have the ability to change the server. If this function is needed, use .

Server speed measurements

The main indicator of comfort when working through a proxy is the percentage drop in the initial Internet speed. On practice, free products show the worst results. Below I will provide a summary table of results for servers available for connection to Frigate.

Initial indicators.

Change the speed when the add-on is enabled.

The results for a free anonymizer are impressive, but it’s not a fact that they won’t get worse over time.

You can remove the plugin through the add-ons panel in the browser.

Instead, I would like to remind you - do not use the extension to access sites blocked in the Russian Federation - this is contrary to current legislation.

friGate CDN – this extension allows browsers based on the Blink engine (Opera, Google Chrome) and Gecko (Firefox) to get uninterrupted access to sites that are not available in a particular region. It is also capable of encrypting transmitted data if SSL is not used. The built-in PageSpeed Optimization feature makes it possible to optimize site data for faster display of its pages.

Possibilities

After installing friGate CDN for Yandex Browser, you will be able to gain access to blocked sites. After accessing the resource, the extension independently determines the speed of your connection to the server and, if it is not high enough, the plugin uses a special proxy from the developer, which will provide the required data transfer speed. The extension is already used by a large number of people on the Internet; in 2015, their number exceeded 700 thousand. According to the developer's statistics, at least 250 thousand users were added every year.

With friGate, any browser gets additional features, as well as broader proxy settings. Standard means browsers use limited proxy functions. The application improves work with settings by adding graphical interface elements; it is possible to adjust the list of resources that will be opened using a proxy. You can also set your own settings for a specific resource. All types are supported, even with authorization. Additional features:

  • creating exclusion lists;
  • creating lists of sites that will use proxies;
  • you can create a list using one click;
  • distribute proxies among states.

Principle of operation

friGate is installed in a standard way– through the online store. There are about a dozen clones of the extension on the store pages, so it is best to download it via a direct link or from the official website page. You can make sure that it is installed in your browser using the triangular icon on the browser toolbar. Next, you will need to make small adjustments to the extension itself for more comfortable work.

An important feature of this software is that opening a blocked resource using a proxy is only possible if it is included in the list. If you try to follow links that are not listed, your IP will not be hidden and, most likely, access will not be possible. To create your own website database:

  • you need to select the extension in the browser toolbar and right-click;
  • then select the “Options” line from the drop-down menu;
  • Next, you need to click “Add list”;
  • now, using the address entry window and the “Add site” button, create a list and in the column next to it set the value “proxy is always enabled” (please note that before the address you need to enter an asterisk, then a dot, and then only the address itself without the http or www protocol) .

  • friGate determines “on the fly” whether it is necessary to use a proxy for a given site, and then, if necessary, establishes a connection through a proxy server;
  • there is a list of resources that are blocked, the list is often supplemented by developers;
  • presence of a proxy from the developer.

  • in the browser Mozilla Firefox you cannot view your personal list of sites, as well as limited editing capabilities;
  • sometimes disappears from the store for a while;
  • a small list of resources below the block.

How to download and install

friGate is a convenient extension for accessing any blocked sites. To install it, do the following:

  1. Open the browser from Yandex.
  2. Click on the link https://chrome.google.com/webstore/.
  3. This is a Chrome extension store. In the search bar, type: “FriGate” and press Enter.

Recently, the government has taken copyright seriously. In this regard, many useful sites are blocked and Internet users cannot access them. Of course, a person begins to look for ways to circumvent the prohibitions. Various programs and services come to his aid - anonymizers, which make users anonymous on the network, allow you to bypass blocking and hide your real IP.

You can adapt the browser itself to such blocking using extensions. One such utility fully justifies its purpose. True, it only works with the Yandex browser. This anonymizer is called friGate.

Simplified installation

Users are accustomed to the fact that each utility must be installed by going to the official list of add-ons. But for users of new versions of Yandex Browser, everything is even easier. They don't even need to look for the plugin since it's already present in that browser. All that remains is to turn it on.

  • Go to extensions using menu > Add-ons
  • Among the tools we are looking for is friGate. It will be signed “uninterrupted access to your favorite sites”
  • Click on the button on the right. The extension from the disabled state is first downloaded and installed, and then activated

Immediately after installation, a tab will open leading to the utility page. On it the user can get acquainted with interesting and useful information about the extension and read how to use it. From here you can find out that frigate works in an extraordinary way, like all other proxies. Here the user independently compiles a list of websites for which the anonymizer is launched. This is actually what makes it unique and comfortable to use.

How to use frigate

Using frigate for Yandex browser is very simple. You can find the control button at the top of the browser: it is located between the menu button and the address bar.

Pros of Frigate:

  • You can keep friGate running constantly and visit all sites that are not included in the list under your real IP.
  • However, as soon as a transition is made to a site that is included by the user in the frigate list, the IP will be automatically changed to another one.
  • A corresponding message will appear in the upper right corner of the window.

By default, the friGate extension already contains a list of web resources, which is updated by the plugin developers themselves as the number of blocked sites increases). Discover this list you can do it this way:

  • right-click on the extension icon,
  • select the “Settings” line in the drop-down menu,
  • in the submenu that drops down we find the section “Setting up a list of sites”.

That's exactly what we need. It must be carefully reviewed and edited according to your preferences and wishes. There you need to add links to the sites you want to visit. Then the extension, when the user goes to a blocked web resource, quickly changes the IP to a suitable one so that the blocking does not work.

Additional settings

The extension also offers additional settings for complete comfort when working. In the “Settings” menu (how to open it is described a little higher), in addition to adding a site to the list, the user can make additional settings for existing sites and generally customize the extension “for themselves.”

The frigate offers the following capabilities:

  • proxy settings.
  • anonymity,
  • notification settings,
  • advertising settings,
  • proxy settings.

The user has the opportunity to register his own proxy servers, or can use a proxy server from friGate. The user can also switch to the SOCKS or cdn protocol.

Anonymity. If there is difficulty accessing a site or the user is under surveillance at work, even through friGate, he can try to use anonymity.

Alert Settings. No one has any difficulties with this point. They can either be turned on or off. There is no third option, as they say. Alerts are a pop-up notification that the extension is currently in use. Everyone can decide for themselves whether they will use this alert or not.

These are three extension settings that the user has the ability to enable or disable as per their wishes.

How to remove an extension

The Frigate extension allows you to access websites through a proxy server. Hides the computer's true IP address and thus allows you to open web resources blocked by the Internet provider and their administrators directly (they selectively blacklist the addresses of visitors).

The Frigate plugin has a number of advantages:

  • opens web pages without loss of speed (the same as in normal mode);
  • provides uninterrupted access to your favorite torrent trackers, video hosting sites and other online services;
  • removes geo-restrictions (blocking by location, place of residence);
  • reduces the risk of PC infection by viruses (virus attacks over a network with hidden IP address much more difficult to carry out than with an open one).

The Frigate add-on works with a list of sites that can be expanded and edited. The algorithm of its action boils down to the following:

  1. The user opens (requests) a website in the browser.
  2. The Frigate addon analyzes the request: is the site in its list (database).
  3. If there is, it checks access: if it is not available (does not work due to blocking), it establishes an Internet connection through a proxy and tries to open it again. As a rule, after “masking” the IP, the blocked web resource opens.

In addition to selective connection by access, Frigate can constantly maintain a connection through a proxy connection. It transmits all data and requests via an encrypted channel (SPDY protocol).

In this article you will learn how to install Frigate, which browsers it can be used in, and how to use it.

Firefox

1. To download the Frigate addon for Firefox, go to the official addons website - addons.mozilla.org.

The proxy operation status is displayed on the friGate button (off - disabled, wait - waiting).

Solution for other browsers

Unfortunately, the developers have not created a version of Frigate for Opera, Internet Explorer or Frigate for Yandex Browser. But if you want to surf these web browsers through a proxy, you can use analogues - addons with similar functions that hide the user's IP.

Safe use of the Internet! And let your favorite sites always be available to you!
