Pattern making programs without registration. Computer programs for creating patterns

Admin 2014-07-27 at 6:09 pm

Good afternoon, dear reader. Today, as promised, I’m telling you about my finds on the Internet. About programs for simple and quick construction of patterns. And I’ll tell you about the programs for creating pattern drawings that I use. They are all different and they all have their pros and cons.

So: first I’ll tell you about the first program.

Valentine's program

I put it first on the list after working for several years with such pattern-making programs as: “Assol. Available Parameters" (paid), RedCafe (free and paid version), Cutter (paid).

Because it contains the most wonderful option for constructing a drawing using any method that I know of. This is an opportunity to build a parametric pattern.

This is a pattern that does not need to be built anew every time - you just need to change the client’s measurements and the drawing is automatically adjusted to the desired size. This is great.

And with all that, Valentina is a free program! There are very detailed videos on my blog about how to start working in this program and about the tools.

To build an accurate basis, I immediately created such a parametric pattern for myself. I entered the necessary measurements to build the basic basis of a dress with a sleeve and now I use this file like this: I take measurements, enter them into the program, rearrange the size of the basis, and print out the pattern.

"Cutter" program

I spent a long time studying on the Internet the topic of the quickest and easiest way to create patterns. And I found one partially free program, it’s called “Cutter”. Partially free because it has a lightweight free version - it’s called “Cutter 1.44 lite”. This free version has the ability to calculate and construct only waist products and with printing - which is very good. That is, this version of the program has absolutely no restrictions in use - there are just a few models. All details about the program can be found on the website of the author - developer Dmitry Pavlov. Here is the link - http://dmitriy-prog.ru/ru/main_rus.html. Copy it and paste it into a search engine. You can download it there. There is also a paid version - “Cutter 2.57” - everything is described on the author’s website.

In general, what I want to say: I am simply delighted with the Cutter program and bought the paid version. It costs $40. But I didn’t regret it. Does it all look like a PR program? No, I do not advertise, but only talk about the capabilities and disadvantages of the programs that I have in my arsenal.

So what can the program do:

Firstly, installation on a computer is not required. You can even run it from a flash drive. You launch the program, enter the values of your body measurements, click “calculate” and voila - your pattern is on your screen. Next, print it out, glue the sheets together and use the pattern. Everything takes about 5-7 minutes. And then, gluing the leaves takes longer.

I really liked it. After all, constructing a pattern from scratch by hand takes at least 30 minutes - and even then by a pro. And this is such a time saver!

The pattern is accurate - 19 body measurement parameters are taken into account. Only without taking into account the individual characteristics of waist darts. Those who have studied my course on creating a dress pattern: will understand me. But, in principle, the finished pattern is easy to adjust in the dart area.

Probably the only drawback of this program is that there is no possibility of pattern modeling. The program builds only the basic foundations of products - men's and women's.

Shoulders - dress, jacket, demi-season coat, winter coat.

And waist ones - a skirt, a trouser skirt, classic trousers and jeans.

In the men's version there are only belt items - 4 options for trousers - classic, jeans, low-waisted and loose.

It is possible to set 4 collar options - stand-up, English, shawl and turn-down. You can also change the types of sleeves - two-seam, one-seam, with a tuck and shirt.

RedCafe program

The program is also available in free and paid versions. I have a good video about where to find, how to download and install the program. I'll tell you my opinion.

There are good opportunities for beginners. You can build both the basic foundations of products according to your own standards, and simulate the result obtained by changing the location of lines and points.

And if you download and install the Burda magazine pattern addons, you can open any magazine pattern in the program and edit it to suit your needs. Not bad, right?

I currently have a paid option. This version is already on my computer and in it you can reproduce patterns with gradations, you can immediately enter seam allowances. And what I really like about this program is that the best option among many programs is the way it prints patterns.

For example, how does printing work in other programs? At best, there is a built-in method for outputting to A4 sheets. But to arrange the placement of parts on these sheets so that the part fits comfortably and entirely on the sheet - this is not possible in most programs. Then we get patterns that not only have to be glued together with sheets, but also the part may be located at the junction of the sheets. Then such a printout becomes a real punishment.

And in RedCafe, in the program window, we can immediately see a grid of A4 sheets and move the parts the way we want to print them. We can rotate parts and change places. This is what the grid with A4 sheets and patterns looks like before I arranged the arrangement of the parts on the sheets: 4 sheets of paper are consumed and two pattern parts require gluing:

And this is what the arrangement of parts looks like with a more convenient and economical arrangement for printing: only 2 sheets are consumed and only one part of the back of the bra requires gluing.

Also in the paid RedCafe you can display any pattern in dxf format and enter it into the Optitex program. For what? read the next paragraph:

Optitex 11 program

(click on image to enlarge)

This is where the program has unlimited possibilities! It's like photoshop. Difficult, but worth it. You can download and read about it in the topic on Osinki.

I also conduct training on working in the Optitex program. With a focus on designing women's underwear.

So, I’ve been mastering it for a long time, more than 3 years.

What the program cannot do: this is the main disadvantage - there is no way to automatically create a pattern - only by hand. It's a long time. But if you wish, you can create this too - it’s called a parametric pattern.

What it is? I myself did not immediately understand this term and did not understand its possibilities. But this is a thing! If I once build a drawing of the basis of a dress, for example, in this program using any method - either according to Muller, or using my own. And I’ll set the algorithm - that is, I’ll enter the variables, then the pattern will be rebuilt automatically when the variables change.

In essence, this will be a ready-made program within a program. But you will have to sit and pore. So, you can create algorithms for any product – for underwear and bras, in particular, I’m interested in it. Imagine - I opened the program, entered the numbers of my measurements and received a pattern for a swimsuit or a bust or something that you won’t find anywhere. But the downside of creating parametrics in Optitex is that there are a lot of difficulties. In Valentin, building parametrics is very simple and fast. So I didn’t even study the construction of parametrics in Optitex.

But the optitex program has a 3D mannequin on which you can try on the resulting patterns in the form of a finished product, you can change the texture and properties of fabrics, volumes and measurements of the mannequin. It is even possible for the mannequin to come to life and walk back and forth.

In this program, you can immediately build an adjacent product on a mannequin and, by tapping with a hammer, remove the pattern.

You can also create a pattern in Optitex from other programs - import. For example, from the paid RedCafe.

In general, an excellent program for professionals, for the enthusiastic and advanced.

Although the post turned out to be long, take a little more time, make yourself a cup of tea and sit back - next there will be an interesting video about our trip to Yekaterinburg with the children. I apologize in advance for the sound quality - the car was shaking quite a bit. Our roads in the Urals are not very good.

Why should you watch this? It was very interesting there - in one day we drove almost 900 km - this is half the distance from us to Moscow! We drove through 5 cities - in total, the road took 15 hours. We visited the museum of military equipment - an amazing collection!

The uniform of soldiers and officers from the Great Patriotic War is incredible! Everything is real. We saw Karabash - the most polluted city in the world. And we saw the most beautiful temples of the “Ganina Yama” - this is the place where the Romanov family was executed, along with their children. Not far from Yekaterinburg.

Everything didn’t fit into one video, so the next article will have a second part. And today the first one: (double-click on the video screen for full-screen viewing):

In the next article I will write a continuation with a video about the foot massage that Valentina does. We recorded a couple of videos about massage. First video - .

And I can’t wait to post new patterns in my pattern database for you.

P.S: If you, dear reader, have not yet downloaded my new free video course on sewing a dress, you can get it

A young brand working on creating a collection does not always have the opportunity to turn to a professional designer. We found out what programs for designing, modeling and laying out patterns are used in production, and also tried to find several services with simple functionality that are suitable for home use.

Computer-aided design, abbreviated CAD, is a general classification for all design programs. Their basic functions are largely similar; their appearance, additional options and cost differ. The price, as a rule, depends on the set of blocks or additional modules, and can also change with the advent of updates.

CAD GRAFIS

Grafis is a development by Cadrus, which specializes in software products for sewing production. The program has an accessible navigation system, and also has the ability to integrate previously developed paper patterns. Grafis CAD includes options for product bases: skirts, trousers, men's and women's shoulder bases, knitted bases, children's bases, underwear bases, denim bases, workwear bases and hats. The program can perform automatic gradation based on size characteristics, set allowances for products and do manual or automatic layout of cut parts.

CAD Julivi

The Saprlegprom company offers several software solutions for sewing production. The company's Julivi system includes 2D and 3D clothing design programs.

The “Design” program can build basic structures from scratch using any method (Muller, EMKO SEV, etc.) in one or more sizes. The list of capabilities in the basic configuration includes creating a design drawing, increasing allowances and designing cuts, automatic gradation, as well as the ability to develop a design for an individual figure. The basic package of the program costs 450 euros. In addition to the main block, you can connect modeling functions, measurement databases, a set of ready-made basic and model structures, and some other modules. Their cost varies from 400 to 500 euros.

Another set of programs, “Constructor”, is suitable for creating patterns for clothes, shoes, hats, and upholstered furniture in the sewing industry. Allows you to work from a basic or standard design to launch into production, reproduces patterns, models, builds linings and adhesives. The program is adapted for designing products from textiles, knitwear, leather, and fur. The basic module will cost 950 euros, additions to it will cost from 200 to 1950 euros.

The Julivi system also includes the programs “3D mannequin”, “Layout”, “Plotter control”, “Table of measures”. The website contains detailed video tutorials on using the services and there is an opportunity to work with the demo version online.

CAD Grace

CAD Gracia is several kits designed for different types of production. The “Enterprise Kit” consists of design, construction and modeling systems and pattern layout. Builds layouts of cut parts that are optimal for saving materials, and also calculates cutting according to material layers. This is the most expensive modification of the program, its cost is 350,000 rubles. In addition to it, there are versions “Set for Studio”, “Set for Freelancers” and “Set for Students”. Each of the kits can be purchased or rented for one year - then the price will be significantly lower. For example, the “Set for Freelancers” can be purchased for 125,000 rubles, and rented for 25,000 rubles.

Trial versions of services can also be downloaded on the website and used for one to two months, depending on the package. There you can also watch presentations, video tutorials and examples of constructing men's and women's clothing.

CAD Leko

The developer of Leko, the Vilar company, offers three versions of the software. The shortened version is suitable for small organizations or young brands. This version includes an installation disk with the program, a description, a design book and a database of designs and methods, as well as standard and individual dimensional characteristics (OST, GOST and the ability to calculate arbitrary sizes). You can create a grid based on several sizes and heights, build manual lines and gradations, and lay out a set of patterns for printing.

The cost of the shortened version of “Leko” is 70,000 rubles. A more complete version forms seam allowances and marks patterns; its price is 100,000 rubles. The latest version, which will cost 170,000 rubles, has the ability to lay out several sets of patterns and a database of layouts.

RedCafe

The Redcafe clothing editor allows you to work with drawings at the level of lines, points and objects, build and model clothing patterns. The program can set seam allowances, make gradations and spread patterns. Patterns can be scaled, changed, moved. The program also allows you to digitize paper patterns, patterns from books and magazines. Redcafe includes a database of standard sizes with the ability to add custom ones. This editor has two paid versions. The first costs 19,950 rubles and includes the entire set of necessary functions. The second version is supplemented with a database of professional patterns for production and ateliers, its price is 29,950 rubles. A free version of the program is also available for download on the website, but printing patterns when using this version will be paid.

The website has detailed video tutorials and a description of the program's functionality, and the blog contains examples of patterns, master classes on designing, modeling and sewing women's, men's and children's clothing.

FanReal

A free program for constructing the basics of patterns for individual women's clothing: shoulder items (dresses, jackets, demi-season coats), as well as skirts and trousers of various styles. FanReal allows you to display the created pattern as a sketch and select the color of the product. Patterns can be made for any type of figure, including individual sizes. In the program you can select a style, set allowances for freedom of fit, change and clarify dimensional data when constructing. The developer warns that this pattern-making system is being finalized, so just in case, he suggests measuring all patterns after printing.

Assyst

CAD Assyst is a software solution from the German company Assyst GmbH (Germany) for clothing manufacturers. About 80% of German clothing enterprises and more than 250 global brands operate on its basis. Among them are Hugo Boss, S.Oliver, Brax, Marc O'Polo, Adidas. CAD consists of a number of separate modules: design, 3D modeling, layout, printing, conversion, cutting optimization, data management, production and several others. A package of modules is compiled depending on production requirements.

The design module allows you to model and design all types of products, and the module for laying out patterns allows you to create layouts manually and automatically with minimal steps. Technical reproduction of patterns is possible both in size and height. The automatic algorithm for constructing patterns works based on the Muller and Son method. CAD Assyst provides a module for 3D visualization of Vidya clothing. It can be used to check the product for fit defects. All modifications made in the 3D prototype are automatically transferred to 2D patterns. The program imports and exports files in DXF format, so they can be opened in any graphics program.

Assyst GmbH works with cloud technologies: the Autocost web service allows you to manage production orders, and Automarker allows you to automatically create the optimal layout of patterns in 3-5 minutes.

Cameo

The American company Wild Ginger Software specializes in developing software and related products for clothing designers, sewing and craft enthusiasts, as well as for teachers and students in the field of fashion design and theatrical costume. There are two programs available on the site - Cameo and PatternMaster, each with its own set of blocks that can be purchased separately. There are demo versions to familiarize yourself with the main functions.

The professional design program Cameo consists of three blocks, which include the capabilities of constructing, modeling and grading patterns. Each block costs $950. In addition to Cameo, the developers offer to purchase sets of patterns for women's, men's, children's clothing, knitwear and underwear.

Also on the site you can purchase books on design and modeling, patterns for women's clothing and download a program in which it will be convenient for the designer to store photos of samples and information about the fabric. You can evaluate this program by downloading the demo version.

PatternViewer

PatternViewer is a free program from American developers PatternMaker, which has built-in templates for women's clothing models. The program allows you to use both basic sizes and set individual parameters. The number of models in this version is limited, but additional units with an expanded range of capabilities can be purchased on the website. Thus, the Deluxe Editor block includes a more complete database of templates and makes it possible to model products based on them. ProfessionalStudio has all the basic functions of a professional design system: independent creation of patterns, marking of allowances, marking of parts.

Each of the blocks can be tried for 30 days free of charge, in the future the price will depend on the level and volume of production. A free version and a program for $99 can be purchased by those who sew at an amateur level. For designers, a more complete package of functions will cost $399, the same package, but with the ability to graduate patterns, will cost $1,199. A full set of program modules for sewing production will cost $2,499.

In the course “How a designer can organize work with production,” teachers talk in more detail about the features of using each of the programs.

Hello, dear readers of the cutting and sewing site. All discussed earlier in the section “ computer cut ", computer programs designed for creating patterns have one characteristic feature. They are free. Or shareware. Such as Cutter .. But the available functionality, by the way, is impressive. Jeans, for example, fit very well. The functionality of the well-known program was also slightly limited RedCafe . There were times when the program was completely free. All that was needed was the Internet. Because the patterns were stored online. Those days are gone. The online version of RedCafe began asking for money for printing patterns.

About the offline version, we can even say that this is a commercial product. This version of the program works without any “Internet”. Locally. Both versions of RedCafe are characteristic in that there is a large base for themparametricproducts. You can also download the program and database on the cutting and sewing website ideaport. Absolutely free online resource MakeMeDress . The project appears to be doing well. The VKontakte group, which unites users of this resource, already includes half a thousand people. Dresses with a semi-fitting silhouette are built in a balanced, proven way... The disadvantage is the impossibility of modeling. But you can always save the pattern to a file, in a format understandable by CAD programs. Modeling there. Or even the old fashioned way, on paper. They also have their own advantages and disadvantages. FunReal And WildGingers .

After such a short excursion, we move on to the newbie reviews of programs for creating patterns. Today, among the truly free and very functional programs, “Valentina” stands out. You can download this program for creating Valentine patterns for free from its official website -http://valentina-project.org/.. Not only download for free, but also use for free, of course. Don't be intimidated by the English-language interface of the resource. Probably the author aimed to monetize thea program for constructing “Valentine” patterns with the help of bourgeois users. One way or another, the program for creating clothing patterns is downloaded from an English-language resource. When installing a program for creating clothing patterns, the entire interface will be in Russian. It is possible to select the interface language during installation. This is a big plus. The undoubted advantage of this program for creating clothing patterns is also the fact that there are versions of it running under different operating systems. That is, the Valentin program is cross-platform.

A lot of information can be found on the Valentina project blog - http://valentina-project.blogspot.ru/ There are many links there that you may find useful. But you need to be prepared for the fact that there is only one resource on the network, and this is VKontakte, Russian. There is a wonderful author on YouTube. This is Olga Makaryuk. Here is her video about the pattern design software. Some information is outdated. There are no examples in the repository now. But the presentation of the material is very logical and simple. The first video is an introduction to the program for sewing Valentine's clothing.

The following video is devoted to constructing points in the program for Valentine's patterns

Pattern making software is a type of software designed for designing and modeling pattern pieces, calculating material consumption, and planning the production process.

The general name of this type of program is CAD, which stands for “Computer-Aided Design System.” Various types of CAD are currently used in the work of architects, landscape designers, surveyors, and engineers.

Program history

The first CAD samples were created in the 70s. They provided the opportunity to automate the solution of similar problems. In the sewing industry, this was a gradation of patterns (a proportional change in the details of patterns in accordance with the size range). Now the range of functions has become much wider: it is now possible to work with color, material texture, calculate the optimal layout of parts on fabric, etc.

Most CAD developers create programs for working with two-dimensional layouts. In recent years, several new programs have appeared that allow you to create and edit models in 3D format directly on a virtual mannequin. The main audience for this software are seamstresses and amateur fashion designers with only basic design knowledge. CAD data is still difficult to satisfy the needs of specialists due to insufficiently developed functionality.

Modern programs for creating patterns can be used both at home to create individual models and small collections, and at a sewing enterprise. The use of sewing CAD has a number of significant advantages over the manual process. First of all, this is a noticeable increase in labor productivity (more than doubling according to domestic developers).

Thanks to design programs, it is possible to optimize working conditions and results:

  • Product development takes less time;
  • the possibility of errors in calculations and other shortcomings made due to the “human factor” is excluded;
  • the ability to reduce the consumption of sewing material thanks to the rational layout of patterns.

Depending on the type of software and the task at hand, patterns created using design programs can be printed on a regular printer or a professional plotter. The digital model is saved in the computer's memory, which allows you to create your own virtual library of models. Another significant advantage of working with CAD is that the resulting drawings comply with GOST requirements.

Stages of product development in clothing design programs

  1. Creation of the basic design of the product.
  2. Structural modeling (modification of parts of the basic design).
  3. Gradation of patterns in accordance with the size range.
  4. Construction of the pattern layout.
  5. Printing the finished result.

After developing the pattern details (if it is necessary to sew several product samples of different sizes), the following is carried out:

  • gradation of patterns in accordance with the size range;
  • constructing a layout of patterns;
  • the finished pattern is printed.

COMTENSE

The program exists in several versions: for individual use, ateliers and small design studios, enterprises. There is a separate version for sewing covers for upholstered furniture.

The peculiarity of this software is its wide range of functions that allow you to optimize production stages:

  • create a sequence of actions;
  • organize division of labor;
  • calculate fabric consumption;
  • make calculations for automated cutting.

VALENTINA (VALENTINE)

The VALENTINA pattern making program is one of those programs that is easy to use in everyday practice and will be easier for beginners to start with. The range of functions is not very wide, since there is no possibility of modeling structures, however, the stage of working with data from finished patterns is convenient and allows the use of parametric settings.

NANOCAD

“NANOCAD” is one of the professional high-tech CAD systems, different versions of which are intended for all main areas of design, including sewing production. The basic version of the program is distributed free of charge and has all the functions necessary for creating patterns and further modeling. To work in NANOCAD, you need to know the initial formulas for constructing the required patterns, and saving the intermediate result is impossible. The program is suitable for “advanced” individual users and manufacturers of garments.

AutoCroy

The Belarusian program for patterns “AutoCroy” is a multi-level system for the professional production of garments. Versions of this system vary depending on the type of end product. The criteria for choosing the right program are:

  • material used (knitwear, textiles, fur);
  • type of product (sports or casual clothing, bags, children's underwear, toys);
  • gender and age (children's/adults' clothing).

The key point for all systems is the tab with basic designs, which allows you to design the base of the product as accurately as possible, taking into account the individual characteristics of the figure.

REDCAFE

The Redcafe program is quite easy to use and suitable for beginners. The interface is similar to graphic editors (the developers themselves call “Redcafe” a clothing editor). You can choose one of three modes to work with – points, lines or objects. The construction of products is carried out as clearly as possible; registered users have access to a large updated database of ready-made patterns.

GRAFIS

The GRAFIS design system is aimed at covering the interests of both beginners and experienced designers due to several possible work algorithms. The first option is to design patterns and model the basics existing in the program. The second is independent development of basic structures using your preferred methodology. All developments, whether modifications of existing ones in memory or newly created designs, can be saved in the basics library. Also in GRAFIS there are databases of ready-made structural elements and parts (hoods, cuffs, collars, pockets, etc.), which at the modeling stage can be built into the pattern with automatic correction of all necessary calculations.

OPTITEX

The design product “Optitex” is intended for professional figures in the fashion industry who seek to calculate in as much detail as possible the features of the cut, fit and material of the product. The program can also model two-dimensional parts, but the main focus is on working with 3D objects. In addition to the program, applications have been released that allow you to view and upload ready-made virtual models to media before the sewing stage.
