Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830: specifications, description, reviews. Summary review of smartphones Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830), Fit (S5670) and mini (S5570) Samsung galaxy ace year of release

Today we're looking at the successor to Samsung's mid-range models, the Ace, codenamed GT-S5830. After the GT-i5800 model, Ace still holds the title of successor to the famous and popular i5700 Spica model. The screen resolution was returned to its original position (in the i5800 it was reduced to 240x400 pixels), the hardware became modern for its segment. But whether Ace will become a bestseller among its competitors and repeat the success of Spica - time will tell.

However, it seems to me that it will not be possible to easily surpass the glory of “Spitsa”. Subjective opinion, but, at first glance, if I now had to choose between Ace and Spica, the choice would be ambiguous.

The fact is that Spica has more developed external data. Thus, there is no gloss in the case materials, and in general, the experience of active and long-term use of the i5700 has shown that the model’s appearance is very resistant to wear. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that an all-glossy Ace will rub off faster.

Also, the predecessor has all mechanical keys and not three of them, like the Ace. There is even a joystick, which is so lacking in modern touchscreens, especially in winter.

But not everything is so good. Spokes had serious performance problems. Despite the high frequency, the hardware was designed only for playing converted video. There were problems with games and especially 3D. However, the popularity of the model allowed the smartphone to overcome many obstacles. So, today more and more custom versions are coming out for the i5700.

Let's look at new model. Yes, the Ace is significantly superior to the Galaxy 580. But, if you compare it with the Spica, the Ace, with its “amateur” body, wins in terms of characteristics. About them below.

Appearance

Despite the glossy body, the Ace looks good. Externally, it evokes strong associations with the iPhone 4, the same gray edging on the side, the color of the case and only one key in rest mode. Until you unlock the device, the two touch buttons are not visible at all.

Location of everything on the body

On the front side of the smartphone there is a 3.5″ diagonal screen with a resolution of 320x480 pixels. This is the standard resolution for a device of this level. The screen is made using TFT technology and has a capacitive touch surface. Viewing angles are good, but not great. Multi-touch is well implemented; I didn’t notice any confusion in touches like on the LG Optimus One and Google Nexus One.

The speaker and proximity sensor are located above the screen, and control keys are located below it. As with the entire Galaxy line, you can unlock the device not only by pressing the power key, but also by pressing the central mechanical key.

On the right we see the power and screen lock key, as well as the card slot MicroSD memory under the plug. If you often change memory cards, for example, to watch movies, you will like this solution.

On the right is a paired volume key and a lanyard eyelet.

Only the microphone is located at the bottom, and at the top we see a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack, as well as a jack for microUSB cable. The latter is hidden behind a curtain. We see a similar solution in the Galaxy S.

The back cover is the most glossy I've ever seen. It's just glossy and glossy. There is not even any design, like on the Galaxy S or Nexus S. Prints are part of the existence of the cover.

Among the black gloss there is a 5MP camera with flash and a speaker. The camera has autofocus and takes good pictures, but video shooting in Ace is purely for show, as it shoots video with a maximum resolution of 320x240 pixels. Does this still happen? I'm sure this is a marketing ploy.

Sample photos

Removing the cover you will see the battery itself, with a capacity of 1350 mAh, as well as a slot for a SIM card. The battery is not miraculous; it provides the smartphone with a daily diet, but no more. Of course, it all depends on the activity of use. With a moderate load, you can get a two-day operating mode.

BY

Galaxy Ace runs under Android control OS 2.2.1. In principle, this can no longer be called very good, but that’s how it should be. Whether there will be an update to 2.3 is unknown. This is a minus compared to the competing model LG Optimus One, which will definitely be updated.

As we are already accustomed to seeing in Samsung smartphones, there is a TouchWiz 3.0 interface add-on on top of bare Android. I won’t say whether this is a plus or a minus, as I think it’s a matter of taste. My taste leans towards bare Android.

In TouchWiz, desktops and menus have been changed, some services and applications have been added. It's nice to have a Swype keyboard right out of the box.

Specifications

I admit, I did not expect such performance from Ace; the smartphone turned out to be good in this regard. On Ace you can play cool 3D games like Raging Thunder 2, Gangstar: Miami Vindication HD, Brothers In Arms 2: Global Front HD 3D, and others. And the Neocore test only confirms the performance of these games.

Express video review of Samsung Galaxy Ace

Conclusion

We didn’t get a revolution that needs to be sawed and sawed to make a diamond. We received a functionally good and ready-to-use smartphone on Android OS. Galaxy Ace is fast enough for heavy games and quite inexpensive. For example, a model with similar characteristics from will cost the buyer $100 more. Don’t forget about, which costs the same, but has a more practical body.

One of the advantages is the advanced community of enthusiasts who turn an already good device into candy. Many will never have to tinker with customs, but for those who change Spica to Ace, this will be a good bonus.

The disadvantages include too much “glossy” of the case. I don’t want to call it anything else. Some may not like some similarities in design with the iPhone 4.

Our verdict: moderately stylish, well-built, quite productive and the most glossy Android smartphone with a good camera and a video camera for show.

The Android smartphone market today is experiencing another important stage of its development; it is expanding, but now not at the expense of top-end models. price segment. The niche of top-end smartphones is becoming very crowded, so manufacturers are starting to expand their portfolio of mid-range devices. The Android smartphone S5830 Galaxy Ace from Samsung can be considered as a direct successor to the popular i5700 Galaxy Spica model, which at one time also stood out for its good price-to-functionality ratio.

Verdict

Design, build quality

Galaxy Ace has a nice design that vaguely resembles the appearance of the iPhone 4, but at the same time it is easy to recognize the Android style Samsung smartphones. The body of the device is completely made of plastic; there are options with a glossy and matte finish on the back cover, and it can be black or white. The device with a black gloss look is the least practical; it quickly becomes covered with fingerprints and small scratches. In general, the case has a good build, even with strong compression there is not the slightest hint of squeaking.

Display

As mentioned above, Samsung Galaxy Ace is equipped with a 3.5-inch capacitive touch TFT display, which is a kind of record for models of this class. The screen is covered with Gorilla Glass, which is scratch-resistant. In practice, this means that if the smartphone accidentally “meets” the keys in your pocket, then light abrasions may appear on the display, but not deep scratches. The screen itself has good viewing angles and a resolution of 480x320 pixels, although with such a diagonal I would like to see 800x480 pixels. In bright sunlight, the display “fades”, although the text on it remains readable.

Interface

Samsung Galaxy Ace works under operating room control Android systems 2.2.1, which is complemented by the proprietary TouchWiz 3.0 interface. This shell has a number of improvements compared to standard Android, it implements fast access to the task manager, installed by default file manager, ThinkFree office suite and SocialHub social media app. In TouchWiz 3.0, you can flexibly customize the system menu and quick launch panel, as well as independently add or remove desktops; in total there can be from 1 to 7. In addition standard Android Market install applications in Galaxy Ace you can also from the store Samsung Apps. Otherwise, the capabilities of the smartphone correspond to the functionality of Android 2.2.1, the system supports synchronization with Google services, there is access to Gmail, YouTube, Google Talk, maps and search.

Ergonomics

The device uses a minimum of hardware controls; on the front panel there is one mechanical button home screen and two touch keys for returning and calling up the menu. Also on the right side panel there is a button to turn off/lock the display, and on the left there is a volume rocker. At the top end there is a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a micro-USB port. Due to the enlarged display, work with Samsung Galaxy Ace convenient, there are no problems with clicking on the wrong icon or menu item. The display responds well to touch and supports Multi-Touch technology.

Performance

In terms of performance Galaxy Ace shows average results in synthetic tests. In the Quadrant test, the device scores 561 points, which is slightly higher than the Nexus One with Android 2.1. The smartphone has a Qualcomm MSM7227 processor with a frequency of 800 MHz, an Adreno 200 graphics accelerator and 278 MB of RAM. Thus, when working with menus and applications, there are no complaints about the speed of operation, but when viewing “heavy” web pages or galleries with high-resolution images, slight hitches in the operation of the device may occur. To install programs, the user has 158 MB of internal memory and the ability to use microSD cards of
up to 32 GB.

Camera

Built in Galaxy Ace The 5-megapixel camera is equipped with autofocus and LED flash. There are preset shooting modes, you can change the exposure value, white balance, ISO, contrast, saturation, sharpness, and also add various effects to the photo. The quality of photographs is at a fairly good level, as for smartphones, and largely depends on the lighting. But the video quality is not so good; shooting is only available in a resolution of 320x240 pixels.

Sample photos of Samsung Galaxy Ace

Exploitation

IN Galaxy Ace A 1350 mAh battery is installed, which provides the smartphone with a little more than a day of operation with data transfer enabled. The volume of the earpiece and ringer is at a good level, but the vibration alert can not always be felt. For now Samsung Galaxy Ace can be called one of the best Android smartphones in its class. The device has balanced characteristics and a good price/quality ratio.

Appearance of the smartphone

Some say the design is similar to the last couple of Apple phones (iPhone 4). Indeed, there are similarities. The case is made well and stylishly, it is compact and thin, and pleasant to the touch back cover has a corrugated surface. There is a metal-like plastic edging around the entire perimeter, which also looks stylish.

Specifications

The device has small dimensions: 112mm x 60mm x 12mm, a 3.5-inch capacitive display with a resolution of 320x480, and the performance is driven by a Qualcomm MSM7227T chip with a processor frequency of 800 MHz. The latter can be overclocked if desired, but Adreno 200 acts as a video adapter. Random access memory 392MB, built-in 512MB, but can be expanded using MicroSD memory cards up to 32GB. The battery does not break records, but has quite sufficient capacity of 1350 mAh.

Software

Now the smartphone is sold with pre-installed Android OS version 2.2.1, but there is already firmware 2.3, as well as various ones from amateurs and enthusiasts. If you already have a similar device, then you are in great luck, as we have on our website:

Photos of Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830

Samsung Galaxy Ace (GT-S5830) was officially presented by Samsung only today (at 2 a.m. Kyiv time). It is designed to strengthen the manufacturer’s position in the mid-price segment, where Samsung currently has a slight “sag.” I had the opportunity to spend a week with a pre-sale sample of this certainly interesting device. It has all the ingredients for success, but can it become as popular as the legendary Galaxy Spica model?

Excursion into history

At one time, the Android smartphone Samsung Galaxy Spica (GT-i5700) created the effect of a bomb exploding on our market and became the most popular device running the Android operating system. The “blame” for this was the excellent combination of price and characteristics, and neither some technical problems nor the uncertain situation with software updates could affect the popularity of the phone. The Galaxy Spica was quickly discontinued - both due to the technical problems mentioned above, and because the device turned out to be too successful and potentially cannibalized sales of more expensive Samsung phones, in particular, the then-upcoming bada- flagship Wave (GT-S8500). The logical continuation of the super-popular “Spoke” was a device called Galaxy 580 (GT-i5800), which, however, did not become popular because its characteristics were partially deteriorated compared to its predecessor. In particular, users were indignant about the reduced screen resolution (240x400 versus 320x480). Meanwhile, competitors were not asleep and presented very interesting Android smartphones in the same (and even lower) price category - within literally six months we saw Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini and Mini Pro, HTC Wildfire, Garmin-ASUS A10, Gigabyte GSmart G1305, LG Optimus (GT540) and finally Optimus One (P500), which is currently the most balanced and attractive offering on the market. The answer to the encroachments of competitors was a smartphone called Galaxy Ace, which is designed to return the company to leadership in the mid-price segment. The name - Ace - was probably not chosen by chance; it is such a trump card that the company pulled out of its sleeve at the decisive moment. As with the Galaxy Spica, the key is the combination of price and technical characteristics, but at the same time the company approached the creation of the phone carefully enough so as not to harm sales of older models.

Specifications

In Galaxy Ace, the company abandoned the use of its own S3C6410 processor and chose the Qualcomm MSM7227 platform, which is a complete solution for budget smartphones. The Qualcomm MSM7227 combines an ARMv6 processor core running at 800 MHz and an Adreno 200 GPU, which currently has the most comprehensive support for Android games. Full specifications smartphones look like this:

  • Ranges: GPRS/GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900, UMTS/HSPA 900/2100.
  • Form factor: keyboardless monoblock.
  • Operating system: Google Android 2.2 (Froyo) with TouchWiz 3.0 interface.
  • Display: TFT, 320x480 pixels, 16 million colors, touchscreen (capacitive matrix).
  • Camera: 5 MP, autofocus, LED backlight, geotagging, video recording (320x240).
  • CPU: Qualcomm MSM7227, clock frequency 800 MHz; integrated video accelerator Adreno 200.
  • RAM: 384 MB.
  • Flash memory: 158 MB + microSDHC cards (up to 32 GB).
  • Multimedia capabilities: MP3 player, FM receiver, integration with YouTube, Find Music service (analogous to Track ID in Sony phones Ericsson).
  • Wireless technologies: Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR.
  • Interface connectors: microUSB, 3.5 mm headphone output.
  • GPS: yes, A-GPS support, Google Maps support.
  • Dimensions and weight: 112x60x11 mm, 115 grams.

Appearance and design features

Personally, I categorically do not like the direction in which Samsung's design ideas are developing: with each new iteration, the phones of this respected manufacturer are becoming more and more similar to the iPhone. And don’t tell me that the touchscreen devices all look the same, this is not true: the same “Spoke” had its own and quite recognizable appearance, while the Ace looks like a Chinese knockoff of the iPhone 3GS.

At the same time, the case materials are quite good: the front panel is covered with solid glass, and the battery compartment cover is made of decent-looking glossy plastic. The only element of the hull that gives rise to concerns about its safety appearance, this is a silver-painted plastic edging.

It is worth noting that recently Samsung began to remove a separate camera button from its phones: it was absent in the Galaxy S, and it is not present in the Galaxy Ace either. In my opinion, this is unforgivable, since it makes taking photos with your phone as inconvenient as possible.

Screen

The Galaxy Ace uses a 3.5-inch TFT screen with a capacitive touch surface with a resolution of 320x480 pixels. The screen is bright and contrasty, viewing angles can be called satisfactory, but nothing more. In my opinion, the screen quality of the Galaxy Ace is somewhat inferior to that of the Optimus One. Apparently, there is an oleophobic coating, since the screen is reluctant to scratch and then wipes off easily.

There is no light sensor and, accordingly, automatic brightness adjustment.

Autonomy

The smartphone is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 1350 mAh. Battery life is typical for most Android smartphones, that is, with heavy use and a large number of mobile internet traffic he can work for a maximum of one and a half to two days. Fully charging the battery from the mains charger takes about 2.5 hours, from USB phone Charges a little slower.

Performance

Initially, I had information that the Galaxy Ace would be built on a chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7230 (800 MHz Scorpion CPU core and Adreno 205 GPU). Unfortunately, this information has not been confirmed; the smartphone uses a “budget” Qualcomm MSM7227 solution with Adreno 200 graphics, but the processor core is overclocked to 800 MHz. IN HTC smartphones Gratia and Samsung Galaxy Mini use the same processor at its “native” frequency of 600 MHz.

Despite the budget chipset, the phone performed well in the Quadrant and Neocore benchmarks. Just 9 months ago, such performance was available only to buyers of top Android smartphones, but today it is already the lot of middle-class solutions.

Firmware features

The phone runs on the Android 2.2 (Froyo) operating system, on top of which is the proprietary TouchWiz 3.0 shell. In general, the interface differs little from other Samsung Android smartphones, for example, Galaxy S.

The Galaxy Ace finally almost corrects a long-standing problem with Samsung smartphones, namely, incomplete localization. In particular, the Cyrillic alphabet has appeared in the quick navigation bar for contacts, which allows you to quickly search for contacts with names in Russian or Ukrainian. True, the “Phone” application still does not provide for entering the Cyrillic alphabet, so if you need a T9 search for contacts, you will have to install the Dialer One application (fortunately, it is free).

You can use either the standard Samsung keyboard or Swype to enter text. In the Samsung keyboard, layouts are now switched as follows: you need to press the space bar and swipe your finger right or left. Swype also has innovations, the main one of which is support for the Ukrainian language.

The Galaxy Ace, like other Samsung Android smartphones, comes pre-installed with ThinkFree Office.

The smartphone has a very good (convenient) MP3 player and an FM receiver, which has good reception quality. Of course, the standard Android 2.2 connectivity options are present. mobile phone as a modem and use it as a point Wi-Fi access for mobile internet distribution.

Camera

The Galaxy Ace uses the already familiar 5-megapixel camera module with autofocus and LED backlight. The quality of photos during the day outdoors is very good, at night and indoors it naturally drops, but overall the camera is pleasant.

And here is the recording Samsung video frankly clamped: the maximum resolution of the videos is 320x240, the movement in them is frankly jerky, as if the frame rate does not exceed 15 fps (although QuickTime in the video file properties shows 25 fps). Also, note that audio recording begins approximately a second after video recording begins.

Bottom line

It’s not for nothing that Samsung called this smartphone “Ace”, oh, not for nothing. Despite the controversial design and not the highest quality screen, the Galaxy Ace is one of the most interesting offers in the price category up to 3,000 hryvnia. In terms of capabilities, it surpasses even our current favorite, the LG Optimus One, especially considering the excellent 5-megapixel camera and high performance by the standards of this price segment. Overall I recommend with all my heart this device for purchase (although, of course, I would like to get acquainted with the “sale” sample). 6 reasons to buy Samsung Galaxy Ace:

  • high (by the standards of this category of smartphones) performance;
  • very good combination of characteristics and price;
  • high-quality camera;
  • a good set of pre-installed programs - you can start using the phone immediately after purchase;
  • Swype keyboard with support for Russian and Ukrainian languages.

3 reasons not to buy Samsung Galaxy Ace:

  • secondary design;
  • lack of a camera button;
  • poor implementation of video recording.

Ace S5830, positioning it first as a mid-range and then an entry-level device. Designed to raise expectations of opportunities budget phones, its offspring Ace 2 was also released.

Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830: model specifications

Equal in size iPhone display 4S, in other respects the 3.5” TFT screen cannot be compared with it. This is just one of many concessions to the level installed by smartphones Apple. While the five-megapixel camera initially matched the sensors of more expensive phones, its video capabilities were limited to a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels.

In terms of basic specifications, the model is equipped with a single-core 800 MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 processor. In 2013, its frequency was already significantly lower than the average value for mid-class smartphone chipsets, equal to 1 GHz, and even for dual-core new products that were just appearing at that time, but corresponded, for example, to Motorola Motoluxe. Cheaper than Nokia Lumia 710 with 3.7" AMOLED display running OS Windows Phone 7.5, the Galaxy Ace entered a highly competitive market segment dominated by the likes of the BlackBerry Curve 9300 and Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray running Android 2.3.

Design

Following in the footsteps of the iPhone, many high-end smartphones also came in an attractive white version after the release of the standard black model. Samsung, keeping up with the general trend, killed two birds with one stone and offered a pair of replaceable rear panels, reminiscent of the days of the Nokia 3330. At the same time, completely inconsistent with other smartphones in terms of color, the black rear panel is more pleasant to the touch than its sleek, glossy white version. Diamond cut provides better grip.

Elegant, stylish and pleasant to look at, the phone, despite its budget plastic construction and lightweight design, is surprisingly reliable and only flexes slightly under load. The excellent build doesn't have unsightly seams or unnerving space between components, but it suffers from poorly placed buttons.

Placement of three physical keys (go to home page, volume control and power on) Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace user reviews find inconvenient. Two of them are located in places that allow them to be accidentally pressed too often. When the device is in the left hand, the thumb rests on the volume up button and the index finger rests on the power switch. And if you hold the phone in your right hand, then the switch falls into the sphere of influence of the thumb, and the middle one is constantly at risk of reducing the volume.

This inconvenience is more annoying than a drawback, because... Samsung's lack of forethought in these core design aspects often forces users to resort to an unnatural and unbalanced grip to avoid accidental presses.

The rather chunky phone has a bulge at the top, so the manufacturer has made room for a 3.5mm audio jack and a micro-USB port, hidden by a plastic flap. Helping to smooth out the design and disguise unsightly holes, the slider is stiff, awkward, and difficult to access, requiring two hands.

Resistant to accidental shocks and contact with keys and coins, the relatively robust body of the Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace is less susceptible to scratches during everyday use. However, the plastic finish gets scratched after a few months of use. It's a pity that the Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace kit does not include cases.

Big touch screen responds quickly and works smoothly. The model's target audience, which is novice smartphone users, will not worry about having the latest version of Android.

With a thickness of 11.5 mm, the model is 0.2 mm thicker than the flagship HTC Sensation. The 113g weight ensures a solid feel in the hand, but given that the 4.3-inch Galaxy S2 is only 2g heavier, users might expect a lighter phone.

Display

The most important component of any smartphone is its touch screen. It allows you to control the device and view media content. The 3.5" display is acceptable, although it fails to stand out from the crowd. With a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels and a density of 165 dpi, the capacitive touchscreen of the Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace is very mediocre and produces images that, although legible, are completely unsatisfactory and unattractive.

While providing minimal video playback, photo viewing and app performance, the phone falls short of the standards one would expect from a mobile phone. Samsung devices. The display is far from the vivid colors of the AMOLED matrices found in high- and mid-range Samsung smartphones, as well as the 720p and 1080p HD displays of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Colors are muted and there is a lack of sharp detail. Mainly obeying the user's commands, the device sometimes becomes unresponsive, requiring several convincing presses to perform the required action.

However, not everything is so gloomy. Samsung's smartphone screen, teaming up with Android OS, automatically dims when the battery reaches its lowest limit, extending battery life. battery life. In addition, the display is protected from scratches by Gorilla Glass.

Interface

After launching the model with Android 2.2 Froyo installed, it was upgraded to Android 2.3 Gingerbread a year later. However, the manufacturer's support subsequently ceased, and the appearance of the Jelly Bean version, which included many improvements, made the model obsolete even at its release. However, for a novice smartphone user this is not so important - for its price it does the job just fine.

The model combines operating system with Samsung's TouchWiz interface. It provides a proven and secure software environment that meets user needs without offering revolutionary solutions or an inspiring environment. An intuitive platform treats the user with a standard set pre-installed applications Google, which are easily organized along with a variety of widgets and shortcuts on a somewhat limited trio of desktops.

Largely due to the limited 258 MB of RAM and 800 MHz CPU, opening programs becomes a difficult task, since they are preceded by a short pause. Interruptions are also observed in other situations. The phone's wake-up from sleep mode is sometimes slow, often requiring you to press the button again. This creates an annoying vicious cycle of opposing button presses.

Scrolling through menus and lists is also a little slow - a smooth start is accompanied by sudden stops. This slows down the user's work, and also distinguishes the device from some analogues and even weaker competitors.

At the bottom of the screen there are 4 main apps for calls, contacts, messages and menus, which are separated from the rest of the programs above them, just like in iOS. There's also a nifty task manager widget that helps extend battery life by showing you which programs are currently running in the background.

The battery in the Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 is not very durable. It uses a standard 1350 mAh lithium-ion battery, which, despite its low power compared to other smartphones, is capable of powering the phone throughout the day.

Another useful widget is the bar at the top of the screen, which allows you to quickly turn Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and syncing on or off, as well as increase the brightness of the image.

Unfortunately for users who don't like to play, the built-in games for the Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 cannot be removed. They clog up memory and space on the menu screen.

From point of view telephone communication the model leaves a double impression. The standard set of contacts and call menu are easy to set up and navigate. Thanks to TouchWiz 3.0, contacts are easily integrated with Facebook, Twitter and Google accounts, which is a definite plus for hobbyists social networks. Contact history is convenient as it shows not only calls received and made, but also messages. But the caller's audibility is not very clear, and it may take several attempts to answer the call signal.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830), which was priced to be considered a mid-range device when it launched in 2011, had a relatively good 5 MP sensor. But gradually it ceased to meet the requirements of the market, which offered many budget models that produced high-quality images.

According to user reviews, there is no well-functioning dedicated macro mode. The camera struggles to focus when the target is too close. Trying to photograph a close subject confuses the autofocus system and throws it out of sync, resulting in poor quality and very disappointing shots.

Trying to correct this situation through magnification raises a wide range of new questions. While the phone has 2x digital zoom, which is far from impressive, the feature can only really be used when shooting at lower image quality. The upper resolution limit does not allow you to activate either optical or digital zoom.

There's no quick launch button for the camera app, and the tiny amount of onboard memory (158MB) means you can't take photos unless you've installed the 2GB memory card included with the smartphone.

In sufficient lighting conditions, the phone is capable of capturing impressive images, offering a choice of single, continuous and panorama modes and a smile-activated shutter. The Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830)'s camera performance is far from perfect, with the built-in LED flash often overpowering the subject, making some parts of the image too prominent while leaving others in deep darkness. It's not much help when it comes to taking the perfect shot.

Although front-camera used quite rarely to provide video communication, its absence is a clear omission, which is very noticeable in the mid-range smartphone market. It also deprives users of the sought-after ability to take selfies. There are various photo modes to choose from, and most of them improve image quality.

Video

According to user reviews, the phone does not meet HD standards, which are a must in the mid-range smartphone market today. Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830), whose settings do not allow you to shoot video with a resolution greater than 640 x 480 pixels and a frequency of 24 fps, is too outdated. You won't be able to enjoy the footage on large screens. Users are advised not to even try to do this.

The recipe for successful video shooting on the Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830) is a cloudless sky on a sunny day. Often, a phone's mistakenly cautious color management system is responsible for overexposed images, which give frames an unwanted artificial yellow tint. A pleasant surprise, however, is the smartphone's ability to record loud, clear sound with good directionality and isolation of unwanted background noise when shooting video. Useful feature is a countdown of the remaining memory capacity, which will allow you to navigate how much space on a puny two-gigabyte card will be consumed by shooting.

Multimedia

While Micro-SD cards are a relatively cheap and easily accessible storage option, the Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830)'s lack of storage is an annoying omission. The lack of ROM means that without Micro-SD, not a single photo can be taken.

The presence of a music player and FM radio allows the smartphone to be a media center. However, due to the weak built-in speaker, this potential is not destined to be realized. The weak acoustics of the Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830) produce little bass and produce a metallic sound that cannot support the unremarkable screen when watching movies. Only the location of the speaker saves the situation. Unlike many smartphones, whose sound sources are located in the most inappropriate places, which significantly degrades the audio quality, the speaker is located at the rear in the central part of the phone.

Video and music files are stored in separate applications (gallery and music player, respectively). This means that if you want to watch a music video after listening to the soundtrack, you will have to exit one program and enter another. The videos in the gallery are organized by date and are played only in landscape mode.

The Samsung S5830 Galaxy Ace phone is not suitable for running the video player. It can play a variety of media files, but the combination of a low screen resolution and lack of internal storage means you'll have to invest in a large-capacity Micro-SD card before thinking about a movie marathon. The user will not get anything similar to the Galaxy S3, since the smartphone does not even have an OLED display.

Battery life

Promising 420 min. In standby mode with 3G connection turned on, Samsung overestimated the capabilities of the 1350 mAh lithium-ion battery. According to owners' reviews, during testing it loses charge much faster than the advertised seven hours. Charging the battery takes a long time, unlike, for example, the Panasonic Eluga Power, which can reach 50% charge in just 30 minutes. Like many smartphones, the Galaxy Ace suffers from rapid battery drain. According to the owners, it can withstand one day if not used for several hours in a row.

In terms of connectivity, the standard Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are joined by GPS capabilities, allowing you to use Google Maps and geotag your photos. Standing out from its competitors, the phone allows you to share an Internet connection via a USB cable to such devices without mobile communications like laptops. It's always nice to know that for a small amount of money you can get satellite navigation in one package, mobile point access and connection to Wi-Fi.

Advantages and disadvantages

Is the phone good? No. Already at its release it was very mediocre and has not changed for the better. The smartphone fits comfortably in the hand and has a good design. Thanks to interchangeable black and white rear panels, offers a design that will appeal to a wide range of users. Easy to Samsung operation Galaxy Ace (S5830) “Android” does not spoil the outdated modification, and its price is simply amazing. You can buy a phone for 4.5 thousand rubles.

However, the phone wakes up sluggishly, and its low-resolution TFT display lacks the vibrant colors that have become common in Samsung models. A smartphone equipped with a weak camera is filled with software that can turn it into a universal media center, but the hardware does not allow this, because... Audio and visual capabilities fall short of expectations. The interface does not give confidence to the owner dealing with the device for the first time. Android device. He will be extremely disappointed, thinking that this is how all smartphones work.

Conclusion

Recommend samsung phone S5830 Galaxy Ace cannot. Even if there are people who want it, desperate to get some inexpensive smartphone, this is still not something that might suit them. There are other, cheaper and more powerful models. Obsolete software a smartphone doesn’t speak in his favor either.

The processor could not cope with the load back in January 2011, and modern, more resource-intensive applications only worsen the situation. The screen and pre-installed software are relics of those times when the manufacturer was just trying to enter the smartphone market.

The Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830) is a throwback to Android's early days, so modern software doesn't run as well on it. This is not the fault of the South Korean company. The model was supposed to leave the stage at the end of its life cycle, but for some reason its production was continued.
