Bookmark manager chrome extension. Visual bookmark manager for Google Chrome

In May of this year, Google presented new feature bookmarks called “Stars”. But, for some reason, this innovation went unnoticed by most users. Now Google offers another functionality called “Bookmark Manager”. That is, now the bookmark manager is not part of Chrome and Chromium, but a separate extension. Before you start using it, you need to set up Chrome. Here's how I did it:

  1. Made sure I had Chrome version 38 (or later) by going to Menu>About Chrome browser . If not, then you need to update, and it would be a good idea to check if synchronization is enabled.
  2. I installed the new “Bookmark Manager” extension, downloading it from the Chrome Web Store, and made a new bookmark (in the picture below).

After installation, the new extension can be found in the same way as the old one by going to the menu Chrome > Bookmarks > Bookmark Manager or Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+O .

The bookmarking process is very similar to before, but with some new and useful features. You can edit the title, description, URL, and folder, and also select a picture from the site to make a bookmark. In addition, Google will be able to select the relevant folder itself if it decides that it is the right place for the link. Or you can “arrange” links into folders yourself, as was the case in the old version of bookmarks.

New bookmarks let you look at the actual content of a page, not just the saved title, description, and URL. This will certainly make finding your bookmark easier. And now there is a root folder in which all bookmarks are displayed in one list, even if they are in different directories.

Added cancel function last action. If you accidentally delete a bookmark, you can immediately undo this action.

All the bookmarks on my computer now look like nice “tiles”, which is exactly what selecting a picture from a saved site was intended for. It has become easier to sort them into topics and organize them thanks to informative graphics.

If you decide that this is new interface bookmarks are not for you, returning everything back is as easy as shelling pears. Go to Menu > More Tools > Extensions and click the trash can icon next to Bookmark Manager to remove it from Chrome. Personally, I won't do this because I liked this extension and I hope that with its help I can bring order to my bookmarks.

Bookmark Manager- these are good old bookmarks, created anew. They have become more modern and more convenient to use. Bookmark Manager is available to everyone to download and install the bookmark manager for free.

Google has decided to give the well-known bookmarks a new twist. In this regard, a new application for Bookmark Manager was released, thanks to it it is now easier to organize and provide access to bookmarks.

In May of this year, Google demonstrated the first version of an application with the working title Google Stars to make it easier to manage bookmarks. A few days ago a new application hit the store Google Play. True, it is available there under a different name.

After installing the application, an asterisk appears in the address bar of the displayed page. Clicking on it adds the page to your bookmarks and also allows you to manage them. Each of the added pages is displayed as a colored rectangle. When you click on it, the page will open in a new tab via a hyperlink. Below is a description, and on the right side there is a small icon.

With it, you can open, mark (for example, to move or delete) or edit (change the description) a bookmark. The order of bookmarks can also be changed - just click on them, hold and move the mouse, downloading the free Bookmark Manager for the browser is quite simple.

You can open access to bookmarks - to do this, use the small icon in the upper right corner. You can create a special shared folder into which friends could look. The new application, like the old one, also allows you to create folders and move bookmarks between them.

Program version: Final
Interface version: Russian version and other languages
System Compatibility: for Windows XP, 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 (x32-x64 bit)
Activation (Crack|Key): not required

If you remember Google extension Stars, then he probably still works for you. I will offer a more interesting, in my opinion, version of the bookmark manager with a new design and functionality.

Let's go back to May 2014, when Google was testing a new bookmarking feature called Google Stars. The functionality was quite nice, but Google probably decided to call the project a little differently, with a more acceptable name - “Bookmark Manager” - Visual Bookmark Manager. So, let's move on to installation and a brief overview.

Installing Bookmark Manager

The first thing you need to make sure is the version of your browser Google Chrome, it must be at least 38, in order to check the version and update it if necessary - click on the “Menu” and “About” button Google browser Chrome":

In my case, version 39 of the browser is installed, if your version is outdated, you will be prompted to update the browser on the same page:

After that, click on the “Got it” button and we will have a list of our bookmarks:

To add a bookmark, for example, go to the site http://site and click on the star opposite the link, then select, for example, “Bookmarks Bar” (this is the folder where our bookmark will be added), or click “Add to folder” and we have A form will appear for entering the name of the new bookmarks folder:

Among the conveniences - you can select a picture for a future bookmark using these arrows:

It seems to me that this is convenient - to present a visual display of bookmarks, the selected picture will later appear in the bookmarks:

Among other things, you can easily find your bookmarks if you use the search:

All taking into account morphology with using Google Chrome makes searching for bookmarks simple and convenient, because if you have 100 or more bookmarks, and you need to find a specific one, then you will agree that without a search this is more of a problem than the convenience of having a large list without search functionality.

What else? For example, you want to show your bookmarks to your relatives, friends, work colleagues, students or anyone else. This can be easily done by sharing a folder, so, for example, I added a bookmark to a new folder called “Public” and by going to the bookmark manager, I will share it by clicking on the “Share this folder” button:

Google Chrome browser bookmarks separated from bookmarks stored in the service Google Bookmarks. Since it is currently not possible to automatically sync these two sets of bookmarks, you can use a bookmarklet to easily create Google Bookmarks in Chrome.

Sites added to bookmarks can be edited, organized and deleted to make them easier to find. You can also update bookmarks on devices so that everyone can see them in Chrome after you sign in.

Importing and exporting bookmarks in the Google Chrome browser

If you have bookmarks or favorites saved in another browser, you can easily import to Google Chrome. You can also always add bookmarks to Chrome as an HTML file.

Import bookmarks from Firefox, IE or Google toolbar

If you haven't already created bookmarks in Chrome, your imported bookmarks will appear directly in the Bookmarks bar, which is usually docked under the address bar.

If you already have bookmarks in Chrome, your imported bookmarks will appear in a new folder called "Imported from Firefox" or "Imported from IE" located at the end of this panel.

Bookmarks can be found by clicking the Chrome menu and selecting Bookmarks.

Are you using a Chrome device? This option is not available here. But you can export your bookmarks like this: HTML file and import them using your bookmark manager.
