Riversong car bluetooth receiver. Bluetooth receiver: models, characteristics, purpose Car bluetooth receiver

A short preface. A couple of years ago I started searching for a good Bluetooth receiver. The idea seemed interesting to me: you connect the device to the AUX input of any audio device, be it a stereo system or a car control unit. Then, without any wires, you can listen to any music from your phone for your pleasure. Comfortable? Yes!
But what about quality? Will the audio quality suffer from such “machinations”? More details under cat.

Briefly about the functionality

  • Music and calls from a mobile phone in the car audio system
  • Bidirectional Noise Canceling
  • Multipoint support (two devices/phones at the same time)
  • Support for apt-X decoder allows you to stream music in CD quality
  • Automatic connection with the phone when the engine is turned on (power is supplied to the receiver)
  • Voice of receiver states in English, for example “Paring”, “Your phone is connected” and “Battery low”
  • Thanks to the magnetic base, it can be easily removed
  • Compatible with any bluetooth device that supports A2DP
  • Battery life - up to 26 days in standby mode and up to 10 hours of talk time
  • Standard 3.5 mm audio output and micro USB power port allow you to use your own cables from any manufacturer (however, they are also included in the kit)

Charger close up

I’ll be honest, like a true geek, I put the instructions in a distant drawer. There were no problems figuring out one button and one switch.

Let's take a close-up look

Let's evaluate the dimensions of the device against the background of a typical Nexus 5 and a blue ballpoint pen

The meaning of the device

Let's say you don't have Bluetooth in your car head unit. And as a result, there is no way to play music wirelessly or receive an incoming call. But, usually, the car has at least an AUX input. This is where this device comes in handy.
The device can rightfully be called an Audiobridge. We pair the receiver with the phone and you can listen to music and answer calls.
You can also connect to a music center or portable speakers that do not have bluetooth.

Connection

So, having opened the box and looked around, it was decided to test the receiver according to the main scenario - use in a car. The device has its own 270 mAh battery, which should provide up to 27 days of standby time, 8 and 10 hours of music playback and calls, respectively. Thumbs up. Especially the standby mode.
In any case, it is better to power it from the supplied (or any other of your own) adapter. Next, we connect the cable to the AUX connector of the car and... tada-m - you are a happy owner of bluetooth in your car.

To pair, you need to turn on the receiver with the toggle switch and hold down the multifunction button for a long time (as in many other similar devices and headsets). Next, we search through the phone, find “Avantree cara”, and pair it. The receiver is defined as a headset, which means not only music output, but also conversations. It’s simple, I think there’s no point in explaining how it’s done.

Actually, the setup is complete, you can enjoy music wirelessly.

Installation in the car

Here you should be guided by several thoughts. We arrange it so that:
  1. minimize the length of dangling wires (if it is impossible to lay them under the casing
  2. it was convenient to run the wires under the casing
  3. was as close to the head as possible (we’ll talk)
After “pulling” the communication, we glue the magnetic base onto the double-sided tape provided by the manufacturer.

Complete structure

How did I manage to connect it (sorry for the dirty rug)

I decided to power it from my adapter, because... I have three connectors in it.

It took me about 20 minutes. But here you should proceed from the configuration of your car. Those whose AUX and socket are closer to the dashboard can be sent “over the air”.

Previous experience

The idea of listening to music wirelessly came to me a long time ago. I wanted to implement it not only in a car, but also on a home audio system.

Belkin F8Z492

I once bought a Belkin F8Z492.

However, its Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP characteristics were not enough.
I conducted a blind (what else should there be a sound test?) test on relatives. Turning on the sound alternately via bluetooth and via AUX. The difference is as colossal as between radio and mp3. No, there was little background noise, of course. The sound was, to put it mildly, terrible. There were very few low frequencies, and high frequencies too. The sound had a very characteristic metallic tint. Although, it should be noted that there was almost no background noise.
On the same day I returned the device to the store, and was extremely disappointed in playing music via bluetooth in general.

Noname USB Receiver Adapter 3.5mm

One day, while walking through the expanses of geektimes, I read a review about portable speakers. Thanks to him and comments, I came across a budget 4.0 receiver. After my previous experience, I didn’t want to spend much money, but here $3-4 played a role.

After conducting another test with a home audio system, I realized that the quality here is completely different. There was no longer that distinct metallic tint as in Belkin, but background noise appeared. Yes, for portable homemade speakers the sound is quite good. But not more.
Later, having opened the case, read the chip markings and found the datasheet, I saw that inside the RDA5851S and its BT 2.1
+ EDR.

Audio bridge from Dadget

A little background. While reading Giktimes, I noticed a new company for me, Dadget. Namely, that people take the devices for themselves and review them. I found a cooperation program, discussed the terms with Dadget, and a week later I had the same device from the first part of the material.
To be honest, at that time I myself would not have bought a transmission device, since I had negative impressions (using the example of the two devices below).
But here it is clearly stated in the bluetooth V4.0 specifications with HFP, HSP, A2DP, AVRCP profiles and decoder support: apt-X, SBC, MP3, AAC.
I'll give bluetooth another chance. I thought.

Sound impressions

Testing was very difficult. Because the sound turned out to be very good indeed. It was difficult to hear the difference between AUX and bluetooth. I tried to quickly switch the type of connection. Appealed to the opinion of independent people (who do not see what source is currently being used). I even took spectrograms so that I could base it not on “oh, it seems worse,” but on objective data.

Conducted an experiment. I recorded an audio signal using the laptop's linear input. (Used line-in instead of music center)

  • Original track
  • Track via AUX
  • Track via bluetooth 2.1 (Noname USB Receiver Adapter 3.5mm)
  • Track via bluetooth 4.0 (Audio bridge from Dadget)

Comparison

Spectrogram analysis

It can be seen that spectrogram 4.0 differs little from Original and Line, with the only difference being that the first slightly “cuts” frequencies above 20,000 Hz.
While 2.1 clearly cuts them off at 12000 Hz.
This means that the audio from 2.1 will sound more like a radio.

For those who want to compare in more detail, I am posting screenshots in higher resolution

Real impressions

In reality, the sound of the Audio Bridge is not bad, very good. Yes, there are impressions that the high frequencies change a little bit. but they either become louder or are simply detailed differently. After all, the DAC in the receiver is different from the DAC in the phone. But this difference in highs is very difficult to hear. What definitely catches your eye on “bass-heavy” compositions is the weakening of the bass. They don't disappear, they don't become distorted, they just become quieter. However, this is noticeable only on really “rocking” tracks.

Checking Hands Free Mode

I secured the device in the area of the ignition key. The most convenient place within my car.
I conducted call tests while sitting in a parked car, with the windows closed.
Noise cancellation really works quite well. I chatted with a friend for about 20 minutes. He said that he could hear me well enough.
Next, I tested the same scenario, but on the fly. The window was slightly open. The conversation had to end because... the interlocutor complained about poor sound quality.
Since “hard of hearing” is very subjective, I later switched places, put the person in my car, and I talked on the phone. So, the sound turned out to be quite quiet. More than that, I heard my voice duplicated by the car speakers as an echo.
I asked the person to speak closer to the receiver - this did not change the picture much. In the flesh, to the point that they spoke almost into the receiver itself.

conclusions

Using the receiver to listen to music in the car or at home (audio system) is quite comfortable. I would rate the sound quality as a solid 4 out of 5, where the standard is direct transmission via AUX.
This will help “pump up” your car’s audio system a little and make listening to music more convenient.

As a device for conversations, I rate the device 3-. It is quite possible to talk, but not for long. This will help you out while driving, but, alas, you won’t be able to arrange a comfortable conference. As for me, it is better to use a headset or talk through the phone.

I will definitely use the device myself, but most likely only to transfer music. Both in the car and at home.

I want to express my deep gratitude to the company Dadget for the device provided for review.
If you like the receiver, then

Some people can't afford a hands-free kit built into their car. Some people are simply not satisfied with the factory system, so they purchase the Bluetooth speakerphone separately. A significant advantage of buying a good standalone headset is that it will not be tied to a specific car. You can take it with you, say, by renting a prestigious car or by exchanging your old iron horse for a new one. As a result, you will be able to use a proven and familiar device without any problems, without wasting your precious time on mastering a new gadget.

Bluetooth car kits have several different features. They may include an FM transmitter operating through the car's stereo system. You can also choose a hands-free device in the form of a speakerphone, mounted on the sun visor. Such gadgets stand out among their counterparts that require higher quality communications. Finally, there are Aux models that can even work in older cars with cassette radios. So, let us present to your attention Five of the best Bluetooth hands-free kits, allowing you to minimize the risk of an emergency when talking on a cell phone while driving.

Gogroove Mini Aux – Amazing

The Gogroove Mini Aux has a battery that can last for six hours. This way, you can enjoy the uninterrupted operation of your device for a long time without worrying about recharging. The body of this device is made in the form of a microphone.

Thanks to its design, it is able to pick up your voice while canceling out other background noise. Gogroove Mini Aux can be attached anywhere on the car using adhesive tape. Thus, you have the opportunity to install this device as close as possible to yourself and achieve ideal sound quality. You will not receive interference from the FM transmitter, and you can turn off the device at any time to prevent it from draining your car's battery. True, I’m not very pleased with the fact that all control is carried out using only one button.

The gadget works in synchronization with an application that can be installed on your smartphone. Thanks to it, you can quickly find your car in a large parking lot. You can also use this device to convert speech to text and vice versa.

GOgroove FlexSMART X3 – Sleek and Simple

Pros: Looks like an iPod
Cons: limited options

If you've ever used one of the newfangled iPods, then you'll be able to handle the FlexSmart X3 with ease. It has the same large and user-friendly interface as an iPod with intuitive controls that allow you to use the device almost blindly. The presence of an AUX jack will allow you not to worry about recharging, while the bright display will help you set up your FM transmitter. The device attaches directly to the console, next to the stereo system, and allows you to switch tracks and operate the device as easily as with a regular receiver. GOgroove FlexSMART X3 has quite a few functions, but with its help you can easily and comfortably listen to music and take calls.

Jabra FREEWAY – premium quality

Pros: speaker
Cons: sizes

This speakerphone is of excellent quality. We can say that it has the best sound among its brothers. Jabra FREEWAY features three speakers for surround sound, even without FM. After starting the device, you can enjoy crisp and clear sound. Jabra FREEWAY has built-in A2DP, which lets you listen to music and directions from GPS apps from your phone directly through your gadget's speakers. It is worth noting that to operate this device you need the bare minimum of applications. Plus, if you don't want it to distract you while you're driving or obstruct your view, you can easily move it out of your field of view.

SuperTooth Buddy Bluetooth - Best for Beginners

Pros: simple and affordable
Cons: weak speaker

SuperTooth Buddy Bluetooth is rightfully considered one of the best devices for novice car enthusiasts. If you're about to buy your first Bluetooth car kit, but haven't yet decided what you want, or don't plan to use it very often, SuperTooth Buddy is a great solution. It does not have any special characteristics, but at the same time, it can work for as long as twenty hours in talk mode, so you can chat for a long time with a friend or communicate with your lover.

SuperTooth Buddy belongs to the category of speakerphones that can be either attached to a sun visor or simply put in your pocket. It can connect with two devices at the same time, and the speakers will clearly reproduce the caller's voice while the music is interrupted. You can be sure that thanks to this device you will not only hear your interlocutor well, but he will also hear you perfectly.

Connecting additional equipment to a car sometimes causes some difficulties.

This is due to the fact that the connectors for connection can easily be touched and therefore rendered unusable. Accordingly, the choice of connected devices should be taken seriously.

There are several ways you can organize playing audio files:

  • FM transmitter- a small device that connects to the car player via radio frequency;
  • using Bluetooth Flash- essentially a flash drive that provides a Bluetooth connection;
  • via Bluetooth to AUX adapter, powered via USB.

Application

Bluetooth is a technology that is in great demand among drivers.

In the car, you can use it to communicate via mobile phone without holding the phone to your ear. Moreover, this is prohibited by law.

Accordingly, communication via Bluetooth still plays an important role from the point of view of the safety of the driver himself.

However, this technology can be used to perform other tasks.

These include playing audio files on the car radio from mobile devices (,).

In addition, this wireless network is also used to perform simple tasks such as transferring photos and tracks between phones.

In addition, Bluetooth technology works great in the car. Here its range of action is limited only by the interior of the car.

There are no load-bearing walls or anything else. The signal should be at a good level. There is practically no interference.

And devices connected via Bluetooth networks are in close proximity to each other.

Moreover, there are no special rules for the placement of special equipment and adapters. You can even put them in the trunk.

Bluetooth and Hands free

The most popular Bluetooth-based devices are hands free. Moreover, this solution is implemented in several ways.

Personal Bluetooth headset. It is, in fact, a mono headset.

Usually they hang it on only one ear - it doesn’t matter whether it’s right or left. In some models it is combined with glasses.

However, such a device does not have to be used only in a car. This headset simply provides communication with your phone. You can use it both at home and on the street.

In a car, the advantage of this technology is that the driver is not distracted from driving. His hands are not busy. Accordingly, the chances of causing an accident are much less.

True, there are several negative aspects to Hands free devices.

In most cases, you don't know who is calling you. You just understand that they are calling you, that's all.

True, some headsets implement a caller recognition solution. His name is announced in accordance with how it is written in the address book.

In addition, you still need to dial the subscriber on a smartphone. The exception is premium models with voice dialing.

When you play using Bluetooth and you receive a call, the volume on the radio does not decrease. You have to twist it yourself.

In addition, when purchasing Hands free please pay for the following moments:

  • the buttons on the headset should be easy to press;
  • the attachment to the ear must be strong so that the mono headset does not fall out when simply tilting the head;
  • also check if your phone is compatible with your Hands free.

In addition, some models are equipped with a built-in DSP processor. It just increases the intelligibility of the speech signal and has a noise-canceling function.

This device is designed as a monoblock. It also houses a speaker, microphone and control buttons.

Usually it is installed using the cigarette lighter socket and left near it. However, sometimes the device is also placed on a sun visor.

Connection using a cigarette lighter provides uninterrupted access to the vehicle's electrical network.

However, the driver has to bend over slightly to accept a call using the buttons. Thus, you may not react in time if a person suddenly runs out onto the roadway.

Thus, the visor-mounted option will be better from a safety point of view.

Moreover, since the device is located closer, you will be able to hear your interlocutor better and speak a little more habitually - not into the space around you, but into a certain place.

This arrangement requires additional recharging. In addition, it is also not able to recognize the people who call you.

In general, not everyone likes speakerphones. Essentially, it's like a radio broadcaster of your conversation.

If someone is traveling with you, then he will also know what you are talking about. It is still somewhat more convenient with a mono headset. But this already depends on the driver himself.

This connection is made directly to the radio. However, it is not possible to install the adapter correctly right away.

But the result of such efforts will be justified. Now you can hear your interlocutor through the car’s audio system itself.

Music playback becomes smarter - when you make a call, the volume is automatically muted.

In addition, the module is usually equipped with a display. It shows who is calling. You can also enter a subscriber's number without using the phone itself.

Usually the package includes either a remote control or. So managing calls becomes easy.

When choosing an adapter, pay attention to integrated models. They have the most complete functionality.

In addition, they often install an RSAP profile, the so-called remote access to a SIM card.

Thus, the Bluetooth adapter connects to the smartphone’s SIM card and copies the network settings from it.

In particular, the car takes over the main functions. On the smartphone it turns off, the screen goes dark and goes into battery saving mode.

For those who are not familiar with this technology, this state of the phone is scary. However, everything is normal, these are the features of this adapter.

Selection rules

To avoid incidents involving the “death of the phone” or damage to the connectors, you need to carefully select it yourself.

Check if the adapter is compatible with your car and the smartphone you will be connecting to.

It is best when the device box itself states that it is compatible with your model. If it says “single-platform model,” then compatibility conflicts are quite real.

In addition, if you do not speak English, see if the device supports Russian and Cyrillic alphabet as well. Getting a display exclusively in Chinese can lead to setup problems.

Check the system's ability to display numbers and other subscriber data.

Additionally, not all devices support voice dialing. Even if it is included in the functions, additionally look to see if it is tied to the intonation of the operator’s voice.

In addition to this, the adapter must be able to be updated. Especially, technology is developing quite quickly. But you don’t want to buy a new device every year because the functionality of the old one is not enough.

Not all smartphones also support outdated versions of adapters. Accordingly, in this regard, the system turns into a kind of brick.

Built-in Audio Compatible

Some cars have an audio system already installed, but it does not support wireless technology.

In this case, you are unlikely to change anything. Such audio systems cannot be modified. Accordingly, you need to pay attention to this even when buying a car.

Protection

Authentication for new connections can be annoying, but disabling it is never recommended.

Otherwise, you are giving attackers access to your devices.

For example, you may lose your smartphone's phone book data. And these are just little things.

The worst thing is when the adapter independently starts dialing premium numbers and sending messages with links to virus sites.

Playing music

Bluetooth adapters are multifunctional devices. Thanks to them, you can not only use hands free, but also listen to your favorite playlist from your phone on the car radio.

Some car players are not equipped with ports or bluetooth, then adapters with a special AUX input come to the rescue.

In this case, the adapter is connected to the cigarette lighter and directly to the audio input.

Essentially, such devices are intermediaries between the audio playback system in the car and the audio file media. The price of such devices is more than acceptable. Their range is also quite wide.

With the right approach, this technology can turn your car into the most convenient means of communication and relaxation.

This device is one of the most stable Bluetooth-based connections in a car.

It is an adapter that uses the analog input of the radio.

The device can also be powered via a USB connector. So it's good to have such a port in the car itself.

Thus, you can connect the adapter either through the cigarette lighter or USB.

Principle of operation

There is nothing complicated in this regard. The device exchanges information with the audio system via an adapter.

The signal is transmitted via a Bluetooth connection to a compatible device.

Advantages

This connection has quite many advantages:

  • stable signal;
  • sound without interruptions and other stutters;
  • compactness;
  • high quality when transmitting audio information;
  • universality - works with all radios that have an audio output.

Flaws

Of course, not everything is as perfect as we would like.

The disadvantages of such a connection relate:

  • relatively high cost;
  • the device constantly occupies the audio input jack of the radio;

General impression

Overall, adapters are still the best purchase if you want to communicate with people in the car.

This connection is superior to other means of voice transmission. For example, it is constantly connected to the cigarette lighter. You won't be able to enable anything else through it.

The simplest FM transmitters also have a narrow radio frequency range. Some radio stations may simply interrupt your connection.

Bluetooth Flash is unstable in the transmission signal. The sound suffers the most from this - it disappears or is intermittent. This technology also has a small number of devices that support it.

conclusions

Technology in the car brings more benefits than problems.

Thus, it is better to tinker with installation and connection once, but then be content with all the functions of wireless technologies.

It’s also not difficult to find something for a reasonable price. It can be a cheap Hands free or an expensive Bluetooth adapter - it all depends on your requirements for the device.

Of course, their functionality is significantly different, but they all cope with the main function - they receive calls and make it possible to talk without touching the phone.

In addition, some devices help play audio files from other media directly to the car radio.

This way, you kill two birds with one stone - you can listen to music in peace and can take calls on the road.

So devices that support bluetooth are more of a necessity in a car than just an additional feature.
