How to choose an automatic washing machine - types and main parameters. Which washing machine is better to buy? Criteria for choosing a washing machine

A modern washing machine with automatic washing is no longer a luxury. Rather, it is an item of urgent need, which is difficult to do without. And therefore the question is always relevant - how to choose washing machine-automatic and which one is better? What to focus on when choosing and what types of cars there are, later in the review.

Before you head to the store or start searching for a decent model on the Internet, you need to clearly understand where and how the new washing machine will be based and connected to communications. As practice shows, there are two main installation locations:

  • Bathroom or combined bathroom.
  • Kitchen (under the countertop).

The main criteria for determining the location of a vehicle are its size and optimal location of the water supply, sewer system and electrical outlet. Knowledge of how to choose washing machine, not always enough. You still need to clearly understand how to connect it.

For a bathroom or toilet, the size of the machine is most important. It needs to fit and have enough space for its comfortable operation (the door opens and there is room for hoses).

How to choose the right automatic washing machine for installation in the kitchen? For this purpose, built-in machines or models are used in which the top is completely removable (many models have a removable lid, but are not built-in due to the high front panel). This will allow the machine to be inserted under the countertop.

A simple conclusion is that the installation location must be suitable in size and that there are communications in the immediate vicinity for further connection. And based on this, you can decide which washing machine to choose.

Types of loading for washing machines and their features

Often it is this criterion that raises certain doubts during selection. There are two main types of washing machines based on loading method:

  • Frontal (hatch with a door on the front wall).
  • Vertical (the top cover and the hatch in the drum open).

Each variety has its own characteristics and also has pros and cons compared to each other. Further, in more detail about which washing machine to choose in the reviews of specialists.

Front loading machines

The most common variety. And more in demand, since these devices are more traditional. This type is characterized by:

  • Variety of sizes.
  • Possibility of installation in the kitchen (under the countertop).
  • Convenient loading of laundry and detergents.
  • The top cover of the device can be used as a shelf.
  • There are models with drying.
  • Possibility to observe the washing process.

The dimensions of front-facing machines, despite all the variety, still have certain standards:

  • W x 60 cm.
  • H x 85 cm.

As an exception, we note that there are machines made specifically for placement under. In this case, their standard height will be 70 cm.

The depth may vary. Main types of sizes:

  • Narrow – 30-33 cm.
  • Compact models – 33-40 cm.
  • Medium – 40-45 cm.
  • Full size – 50-60 cm.

Clarification for those who have limited space and who do not know how to choose a narrow automatic washing machine. The most compact ones (30-33 cm) are worth purchasing if nothing else intervenes. It is advisable that the machine be at least 40 cm deep. This will eliminate excessive vibration and “walking” of the device around the room during the spin cycle. And there's more loading.

The main disadvantage is the constant width of 60 cm. Taking into account the fact that opening the hatch door also requires additional space, this parameter often becomes critical for small rooms.

Top loading machines

Such machines have standard dimensions:

  • H x 85 cm.
  • W x 40 cm.
  • D x 60 cm.

In stores you can often hear that in such models the drum is supported by two bearings. And this supposedly answers the question - how to choose a reliable automatic washing machine Right? Actually, the drum is supported on two axle shafts with bearings. And in terms of fastening reliability, there are no noticeable differences between vertical and front-facing machines.

The main thing and obvious dignity Top-loading machines – compact sizes for large loads of laundry. Only 40 cm wide and the door opening upwards will allow such machines to be used effectively in small rooms. In addition, during the washing process you can both add and remove things.

Which brand should I choose a top-loading washing machine? The most common machines of this type are Whirlpool. Among the many models, you can choose by price, which depends on their functionality and load. It would be better if there is automatic drum parking. Also, Bosch and Ariston have decent models.

Unfortunately, it must be said that there are also disadvantages.

  • Due to the size and position of the drum, these washing machines are more susceptible to vibration.
  • The production of vertical units is more difficult, and therefore the price is higher than that of similar front ones.
  • The powder dispenser is located on the top cover. If clogged, water enters the panel, which threatens failure of the control unit and corrosion of the housing.
  • There is a possibility that the drum hatch will open during operation. This can cause serious damage.
  • All parts and components inside the machine are located very compactly. Therefore, craftsmen are reluctant to undertake the repair of vertical machines and want more money for it.

Main parameters influencing the choice

We’ll look at which brand of washing machine is best to choose later, but for now let’s talk about the physical parameters.

Capacity

For a family of two people, it is recommended to take a machine designed for 3.5 - 5 kg of laundry, and if you have a child - 6 kg
  • Narrow (33 cm) – from 3 to 3.5 kg.
  • Compact (40 cm) – from 4 to 5 kg.
  • Medium (45 cm) – from 5 to 7 kg.
  • Full-size (50-60 cm) – from 6 to 14 kg.

The difference in loading for machines of the same size appears because modern models use the entire surface of the drum more efficiently and have a greater safety margin. Previously, only the main surface of the drum with water holes and laundry grips worked when washing. In advanced models, this surface and grips are improved, and the rear wall and convex glass of the hatch door are also actively used.

Washing class, energy consumption and spin efficiency

These parameters are indicated in Latin letters.

  • A is the best indicator
  • B, C and subsequent ones are worse in descending order.

Washing class. How to choose an automatic washing machine according to the washing class? It's simple. It makes no sense to purchase an automatic machine with a declared washing class lower than the class designated by the letter A.

Energy class. A parameter that indicates how much energy the washing machine consumes during a standard wash cycle. When buying a car, you should not blindly trust some manufacturers who designate the energy consumption class with the letter A with an incredible number of advantages (A++++, etc.). Very often, energy consumption standards are interpreted loosely. And it turns out that a washing machine with the indicated class A has the same energy consumption as another with a large A+ (or with more pluses). This happens because, in addition to the demanding European one, there are other “not picky” standards. It’s better to look not at the pros, but at the real numbers.

The indicator is not as important as for washing and energy consumption. It reflects the residual moisture in the laundry and depends on the spin speed. The more there are, the higher the spin class (can reach 1800 rpm). But few people need a spin speed of more than 1000-1200 rpm.

Noise level. Mainly depends on the type of engine. Older or budget models with a brushed motor are louder. Modern ones use brushless inverter motors, which are almost inaudible when washing. It should also be noted that a metal tank is noisier. And there is no silent spin. If silent night washing is important, you should choose machines with such a subroutine.

Drying

If there is no place to dry your laundry and there is no space for a separate dryer, it makes sense to buy a combined machine with dryer. However, it should be understood that such machines are considered less reliable and there are not enough drying modes (or even one at all).

Control

There are two types - mechanical type of control and electronic. It cannot be said that “mechanics” have long been outdated, although there are large numbers of cars with electronic modules on the market.

Programs

Contrary to popular belief, all automatic washing machines have 3 main types of programs - linen-cotton, synthetic fabrics and wool clothing. All the rest are varieties of main or auxiliary modes, designed to correct a given program. Modes such as “prewash”, “light ironing”, “rinse plus”, “accelerated wash” and a delay timer are very useful. And, of course, machines with temperature and spin speed adjustments are more convenient to operate. It would be useful to have a key lock or, in other words, “child protection”. This will help keep both children and pets (if you have them) safe.

Types of protection against leaks

The filling (or drainage) system or the tank inside the washing machine itself may be leaking. Metal tanks have “sunk into oblivion” for a long time, but modern ones are made of a special polymer (there are many names, but the properties are identical for all) and consist of two halves tightened with screws or soldered. The most common type of protection against internal leaks is a bottom pan with a float sensor, which, when filled, stops further flow of water into the machine. A hose with a safety valve will protect from leakage from the outside. If this hose breaks, the water closes off near the tap. More advanced is electronic system AquaStop protection for Bosch and Siemens.

Important: Do not confuse the washing machine's tank and drum. As mentioned above, modern tanks (the part of the machine in which the drum is located) are mainly made of plastic, while drums (the part of the machine where the laundry is placed) are made of stainless steel.

Additional features

Direct drive- a design in which the motor is connected to the drum not through a pulley with a belt, but directly. It is generally accepted that machines with such a drive are quieter and more economical, but their main advantage is the ability to quickly change the direction and speed of rotation of the drum.
Fuzzy Logic. This term refers to the “artificial intelligence” of the washing machine. Thanks to him installed program can be automatically adjusted to optimize washing and water and energy costs.
Stain removal mode. Usually present in premium models. You can select the type of soil (juice, blood or others) and the machine optimizes the wash for the best result.
Warranty and service. Typically the warranty period (not to be confused with the service life) is 12 months. The warranty is sometimes supplemented by post-warranty service. Simpler - free repair in case of breakdown. It is quite convenient if the service period is given by the manufacturer himself. You should find out about the availability of service or support in your city.

Popular manufacturers

Which brand of washing machine to buy depends on your own preferences and financial capabilities. There is a hierarchy among the leading manufacturers of washing machines.

  • Premium level washing machines. These include, for example, Miele and AEG. The price of such machines varies from 800 to 3000 USD.
  • Mid-level washing machines. These are the well-known Siemens, Bosch, Whirlpool, Zanussi and Electrolux. Their price range is from 400 to 600 USD.
  • Budget segment. LG, Samsung, Beko, Ariston, Candy, Indesit and others. Their usual price tag ranges from 300 to 350 USD.

As you know, in the modern world of household appliances, there are washing equipment of various types of loads, dimensions, energy consumption class and maximum capacity. We will now talk in more detail about how to choose an automatic washing machine in 2018 based on price and quality!

Load Type

There are two main types of download:

To choose the right washing machine by load type, you need to rely on how much free space you have. Of course, the first option is preferable in terms of functionality.

Dimensions

Case sizes may vary depending on loading type and capacity. As a rule, for washing machines with a front cover, the standard dimensions can be:

  • width – 60 cm;
  • height – 85 cm;
  • depth 32-60 cm.

As for the second option (top loading), the standard dimensions are:

  • width – 40-45 cm;
  • height – 85 cm;
  • depth – 60 cm.

It all depends, again, on the size of the room. If you have free space, it is better to buy a full-fledged model with a depth of 60 cm. For small bathrooms, it is recommended to choose a narrow washing machine with a depth of 33 cm, which will save a sufficient amount of space!

Advice from the experts

Maximum capacity

Another important criterion that directly depends on the purpose of the equipment and the number of people in the family.

The maximum clothing capacity can be:

  • 3.5 kg (at a depth of 32 cm)
  • 4.5 kg (depth 40 cm)
  • 5-7kg (depth 60 cm)

The first two options are best chosen for a small family (2-3 people). The latter is for a family of 4 people, as well as for enterprises.

Tank material

The quality of washing, quiet operation and durability of the equipment will depend on the material of the machine’s tank. Now let’s look at what tank material is better to choose so that you don’t regret it after the purchase.

There are three main materials of manufacture:

  • Stainless steel. The most durable (up to 80 years of service), but at the same time the worst in terms of noise level during operation and has a high cost. We do not approve at all of choosing a washing machine with a stainless steel tank.
  • Enameled steel. It is not used in modern models; moreover, it has negative reviews not only from buyers, but also from specialists selling this equipment.
  • Plastic (polyplex, polynox, carbon). A worthy alternative to stainless steel if money is an issue. Modern composite materials do not make washing silent and, moreover, due to their thermal conductivity, they can save a little electricity. The only drawback is that the service life is no more than 25 years, although this minus is quite insignificant (few people buy equipment that lasts a quarter of a century).

When choosing between the first and third options, rely on your financial capabilities. Both tanks can be of quite high quality; the main thing is to check the integrity of the coating before purchasing so that there is no defect. This point is relevant if you decide to choose a cheap washing machine, for example, for your dacha.

Connection type

There are two main connection methods:

  • to cold water;
  • to cold and hot water.

In the first case, energy costs will be higher, but the washing will be of higher quality (since the machine itself heats the water to the appropriate temperature). When both cold and hot water are connected, a problem may arise with unstable temperature in the hot circuit (especially true for rural areas), which will undoubtedly affect the washing of clothes. Based on this, we advise you to choose a more reliable washing machine that connects only to the cold water supply.

Control method

The control panel can be mechanical or electronic. Mechanical buttons and rotary switches are more reliable in use, and also will not affect the cost of the equipment.

Modern electronic control – touchscreen is a step into the future, but does not have decent quality (the sensor quickly fails). In addition, the electronic option can greatly affect the cost of the washing machine you decide to choose.

Of course, it is better to give preference to classic buttons; the main thing is to check in the store how well they are pressed. If you still decide to choose a more modern option, then look at the menu on the display so that it is clear, and most importantly - in Russian!

Classification of main parameters

There are three main parameters: energy consumption, spin and wash. They all have their own class, designated in English letters from A (that is, high) to G (low). It is clear that the higher the class you choose, the better the characteristics of the washing machine will be.

For your attention, a detailed transcript:

Manufacturer

It is very important to choose the right washing machine by manufacturer, because... its reliability, durability and, as you understand, price will depend on this. If you don’t know which brand of machine is better, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the most popular brands in 2018:

  • AEG, Miele - occupy the top of the rating and are the most expensive and high quality.
  • Bosch, Electrolux, Siemens - in the “price-quality” category are the most optimal brands of imported assembly.
  • LG, Ariston, Samsung, Indesit, Beko - popular middle-class equipment, inexpensive but of good quality.
  • Atlant, Malyutka, Vyatka are the most famous domestic manufacturers with positive customer reviews and a relatively cheap price.

It is impossible to say clearly which brand is more durable and better than all the others, because... All of the above manufacturers produce fairly reliable equipment. For home use, you need to choose washing machines of the second and third row. They have a fairly good build, long service life and at the same time a reasonable price. In addition, budget models are suitable for use in the country, because... In this case, there is no point in spending money on multifunctional equipment.

Additional features

The versatility of a washing machine is not a significant parameter when choosing. This is due to the fact that all models have a single standard set of functions, which will be sufficient for home use(synthetics, wool, quick wash, cotton, colored fabrics, washing children's clothes, etc.).

Very often, the buyer overpays a sufficient amount of money for absolutely unnecessary functionality, for example, drying clothes. On the one hand, it is a convenient function, but on the other hand, it is used extremely rarely. This is due to the fact that when the drum is fully loaded, drying is impossible; you need to take out half of the things, and then just turn on this function. Now we will tell you what you need to pay attention to when choosing a washing machine in order to avoid overpaying extra money.

  1. Fuzzy Logic— based on what type of items are loaded into the drum and how many of them, selects the most economical type of washing, which allows you to reduce energy costs and water consumption.
  2. Intensive wash, removing stains.
  3. Bubble wash- a technology that allows you to create a large number of bubbles, facilitating better dissolution of the powder and removing dirt from things. It should be noted that bubble washing allows you to remove stains and dirt even when washed in cold water.
  4. The spin speed should be at least 800 rpm, which is quite enough to gently squeeze water out of things.
  5. Child lock(control panel lock).
  6. Direct Drive- rather refers to the design features of the washing machine, because is a direct drive, instead of the outdated belt drive; Direct drive makes washing silent, and the washing machine body itself is more compact.
  7. Delayed start— you can start the machine with a time delay, which is very convenient if you need things to be clean in the morning or when you come home.
  8. Aquastop- protection against water leaks, an equally important function that must be present.
  9. Imbalance control - washing machine in automatic mode monitors the balancing of the drum during spinning.
  10. Foam level control— automatic control of foam formation during the washing process.
  11. Noise level- less is better. A level of up to 50 dB during washing is considered a good result.
  12. - a useful feature for those who constantly forget some dirty things, and we’ll already turn on the washing mode. Reloading laundry allows you to open the lid at any time and add the necessary items to the drum.

Rating of 2018 models

So, you have become familiar with the main types of products, and now you probably know how to choose a washing machine based on price and quality in 2018. Finally, I would like to provide you with a rating of inexpensive but reliable washing machines that have a fairly large number of positive reviews on the Internet. There is no need to talk about the benefits of a washing machine in the house - it has made life easier for millions of people. But every year more and more models of various modifications appear on the market. How to choose a washing machine that meets all the necessary needs, while being high-quality and reliable? This question arises before many who are preparing to purchase a device. Let us understand all the subtleties and nuances of choosing a good washing machine.

The most popular cars on our market are automatic ones. Manufacturers continue to produce semi-automatic devices, which are still in good demand. There are ultrasonic type machines, although they can hardly be called full-fledged washing devices. To get a better idea of everything that falls under the washing machine category, let's look at each type of device.

Automatic washing machines

Such washing machines are completely stationary and automated. They have electronic control and many programs. The devices independently draw and heat water, calculate the cycle time, rinse and spin the laundry.

Conventional models of slot machines have a given set of programs and operate exclusively within a particular selected mode. But engineering developments do not stand still, and today the parameters of modern washing machines have been significantly expanded: there are units that can independently weigh laundry, assess the degree of its contamination, and select the required temperature, amount of water and washing powder. These are truly smart devices developed using the latest technologies.

Not long ago, the Candy company created an automatic voice-controlled washing machine that not only performs speech commands, but can also respond to its owners with a voice.

Automatic cars, in turn, are divided into two types:

  • vertical;
  • frontal.

We will consider each type in more detail below, but for now we will find out what other types of washing machines exist.

Semi-automatic washing machines

Semi-automatic (activator) washing machines were found in most homes during Soviet times. There were practically no machine guns back then, and even if they were on sale, not everyone could afford such a luxury.

The design of a semi-automatic washing machine is very simple: a motor equipped with a shaft rotates a drum located in a horizontal plane. The control of such units is mechanical. They do not have a set of programs; most machines have only 2-4 speed modes. The simplest ones are not equipped with a spin. More “advanced” semi-automatic models consist of a washing drum and a centrifuge in which washed clothes can be spun.

Activator devices can be small or medium in size. Many people are familiar by ear (and some by sight) with the “Malyutka” washing machine. She was very popular in her time. Unlike an automatic machine, a semi-automatic machine does not require cutting hoses into the sewer. These machines are mobile and can be moved around.

Depending on the specific model, semi-automatic machines can hold 1.5-6 kg of laundry. There are no heating elements in the devices - the tank is filled in the usual way, directly from the tap. To drain the water from the drum, the drain hose must be directed into a sink, bathtub or toilet. In such machines you can use hand washing powder. Spinning the drum according to the centrifuge principle does not create a lot of foam in the water.

Today, semi-automatic washing machines are rarely purchased for home use. They are taken to dachas or as temporary helpers until it is possible to purchase an expensive automatic car.

Ultrasonic machines

This type of machine differs significantly in parameters from those described above. The device consists of a cord, a power supply and a small box with an ultrasonic plate located inside. All the miracle technology fits into one palm.

The device belongs to modern technologies and works on the basis of ultrasonic waves.

Operation of the device is quite simple: warm water is filled into a basin, washing powder is diluted in it, and things are placed in the soap solution. Next, the ultrasonic unit is placed in a basin with soaked things, and the wire is plugged into an outlet. The machine begins to generate ultrasonic waves and “wash” things.

How does ultrasonic washing work?

Looking at such a small device, many wonder how this device washes clothes.

It's very simple: the device creates ultrasonic waves in water. Due to vibration, microscopic bubbles appear in the soap solution. Passing through the fabric fibers, the bubbles burst, pushing out dirt.

The ultrasonic washing machine is designed for washing delicate items that cannot be machine washed. In addition to cleansing things from dirt, ultrasound also disinfects laundry, destroying germs.

The machine is safe, economical and very easy to use. The average washing time is 1-2 hours. Afterwards, the item must be rinsed and squeezed by hand.

Of course, hardly anyone wants to choose an ultrasonic washing machine as their main one. But as an additional one, for small “laundry tasks”, it is quite suitable. Although many users note that the quality of washing leaves much to be desired, and this device is not of much use.

Since most modern people try to make their life as easy as possible, automatic washing machines are the most popular. It is their choice that we will consider in more detail.

Loading type: frontal or vertical?

The market allows you to choose an automatic washing machine with a vertical loading type and a front-loading one. Let's figure out what the difference is between these two design features of the units.

Front washing machines

These days these are the most popular washing machines. Their tank is located on the front panel, the lid has the shape of a round hatch with transparent glass. The control is located in the same plane as the loading hatch. The front door lid opens to the side, and if the unit is on the floor, you will have to bend over a little to load laundry.

The transparent door has the advantage of allowing you to observe the washing process through it. Surely few people are interested in contemplating this action. But there are times when money, keys, and documents end up in the tank along with things. In such situations, the transparent lid is very helpful - you can quickly notice an item inside that is not intended for washing and turn off the machine.

Where can I buy

Buying any household appliances is a headache. After all, you want to have a high-quality, but inexpensive and with all the necessary functions. The task is not easy. To put it mildly. How to choose the right automatic washing machine, what you should overpay for, what you can refuse - read on.

Washing machines may have a loading hatch located at the top - vertical loading, or they may have a loading hatch on the front side of the body - front loading. How to choose an automatic washing machine based on this criterion?

There are two significant advantages to vertical loading. The first is the ability to add laundry during washing. Second, they usually have a smaller width and depth (but higher) compared to front-loading washers with a similar load. There are a couple of other positive aspects that may influence the choice if there are small children in the family: you cannot get burned on its body (like the glass of a door) and small children cannot get to the loading door and control panel. If this is important to you, consider this option, but consider the disadvantages.

Which washing machine to choose - vertical or front loading...

There are also disadvantages. First, such a machine cannot be built under a sink, countertop, etc. The lid opens upward, so the washing machine can only be installed “solo”. The second disadvantage is that prices for top-loading washing machines are higher (the difference is 40-50% or even more). And this is probably the main deterrent.

An additional advantage to the decision to choose a front-loading washing machine is their wide variety. There are many more models from any manufacturer.

Selecting maximum load and dimensions

These two parameters should be considered together as they are interrelated: small-sized machines have a smaller drum, which means they can accommodate less laundry. In any case, this applies to machines with a front-mounted loading hatch.

Front Loading Dimensions

Conventionally, all washing machines of this type can be divided into four groups by size:

When considering the dimensions of the machines, keep in mind that measurements are given for the top cover. In reality, for installation you will need a place with greater depth. A few centimeters will be added to the terminals protruding from the back and connecting the hoses. The door also protrudes for some distance. This must be kept in mind.

Dimensions for Top Loading Models

The choice of sizes for top-loading washing machines is much smaller:

In addition to the dimensions, pay attention to the shape of the top panel. For some models it is flat and can be used as a shelf. Other manufacturers try to make the design more interesting and add decorative elements. How much do they improve appearance It’s hard to say, but you won’t be able to put anything on them.

Quantity of dry laundry

The dimensions are more or less clear. The machine must “fit” into the available space. But how to determine the maximum load? In general, they assume that it is convenient to run the wash once a day or every 2 days. this, of course, depends on your lifestyle and habits, but there are general recommendations:

Based on these criteria, you can choose an automatic washing machine based on both size and drum volume (load size).

Drum - stainless steel or plastic

The drum of an automatic washing machine can be made of stainless steel or composites - special durable plastics. Once upon a time there were drums made of enameled steel, but they turned out to be so unreliable that even sellers abandoned them. Despite the low price of such units. So today you have to choose an automatic washing machine with a plastic or stainless steel tank.

We are more familiar with stainless steel. Everyone knows that it lasts a long time. And so it is. But it's expensive. If you want to save money, you can consider a washing machine with a plastic tank. If the car is not overloaded, they are no worse. Their working life is 25 years. No washing machine will work that long. So if you need to fit into a small budget, look at models with a plastic tank. What you need to pay attention to is that the surface of the tank is smooth. All. No more subtleties.

What is worth paying attention to is the shape of the grippers-partitions inside the tank. The asymmetrical shape improves the quality of washing, as do the convex perforations in the body of the tank.

Drive and motor type

Direct drive washing machines appeared several years ago. Compared to a belt drive, they are less noisy, with equal dimensions, they have a larger load, reduced washing time (due to the fact that a sharp start and stop has become possible, and the laundry is washed better). And another plus is that power consumption is slightly reduced (higher energy efficiency).

Direct drive - more maneuverable

In addition to the drive, you need to pay attention to the type of engine. Better in performance inverter motor. There are no brushes in its design, therefore there are no losses on them. It is more economical, has a long service life (longer than a conventional one), can accelerate to significant speeds, and is easier to control and regulate the rotation speed. There are also positive aspects: it produces less noise during operation.

If you need to choose an automatic washing machine that is quiet, reliable, washes well and is economical, look at models with an inverter motor and direct drive. They are the ones who meet these criteria. But at the same time their price is above average. And this is with a minimum of programs. But this option also has other disadvantages - expensive repairs and spare parts in case of problems with the motor.

Control: mechanics or sensors and electronics

A clear answer to this question has not yet been found. On the one hand, electronics provide more control over the washing process, thereby reducing energy consumption. It’s not for nothing that almost all washing machines with a high energy consumption class are electronically controlled. On the other hand, electronics are more sensitive to the quality of the supply voltage. For long-term and long-term operation, it is advisable to install a stabilizer. In addition, few people today repair control boards. They are usually simply replaced. And in cost they are approximately equal to half the cost of the car.

Choose between mechanical and electronic control - depending on your wishes

The advantage of mechanical control is that it is less sensitive to voltage changes. But also less functional. Also, the positive aspects include a lower price. But additional service functions, protections, etc. there is no such equipment. So, based on this parameter, you will have to choose an automatic washing machine based on your own preferences.

Specifications

It is impossible to choose an automatic washing machine and not pay attention to its technical characteristics. Perhaps you shouldn’t go into details, but know the parameters that affect the quality of washing and the efficiency of the unit.

Energy class and power consumption

The energy consumption class is also called energy efficiency. It is designated by letters of the Latin alphabet - from A (first class) to G (lowest class). Shows how efficiently energy is consumed during the washing process. Due to rising electricity prices, this parameter has become relevant - the higher the energy efficiency, the lower the electricity consumption, all other things being equal. To choose an automatic washing machine with minimal consumption, take class A with pluses (A+, A++, A+++). The more advantages, the more economical it is. But here you need to look in combination with the price - sometimes it increases greatly with the increase in the number of “pluses”.

How the energy consumption class is set - based on energy consumption for washing one kilogram of laundry

Just don't confuse energy efficiency with power consumption. The power consumed by a washing machine greatly depends on the power of the heating element. And here you need to make sure that the power consumption is not too low. Otherwise, in winter the water may not have time to heat up to the required temperatures. So it’s better to take medium or high power, but paired with good energy efficiency. Then the water will be heated to the required temperature, and, due to good management and energy-saving technologies, electricity consumption will not be excessive.

Spin efficiency class and drum rotation speed

The efficiency class for spinning clothes with a washing machine is indicated according to the same scheme - using Latin letters from A to G. They reflect the amount of moisture that remains in the washed laundry:

  • class A - 45%;
  • class B - 54%;
  • class C - 63%;
  • class D - 72;.

In percentage terms the difference is significant, but in practice the difference between class A and C is not very large. Yes, it takes a little longer to dry, but not so much that you can shell out a hefty amount for a higher grade. After all, the amount of remaining water directly depends on the speed of the drum during spinning, and the more revolutions it must gain, the more powerful the motor and more reliable bearings are required. And this is reflected in the price.

Spin class is not such an important characteristic that you need to pay a lot of money for it.

Actually, today optimal choice- this is a B-C spin class with a drum rotation speed of 1000-1200 rpm. There are models that even reach 2000 rpm (Gorenje WA 65205), but why overpay? At high speeds (meaning 1000-1200 rpm), mainly cotton fabrics (but not knitwear) and synthetics are wrung out. For all others, lower speeds are recommended. Do you have a lot of cotton fabric (not knitwear) and pure synthetics? Most likely no. So why such capacity that will not be used?

So, it is better to choose an automatic washing machine with spin class B or C and a maximum speed of 1000-1200.

Washing class

With this parameter everything is more or less clear. The better the machine washes, the higher its class. It is also designated by Latin letters from A to G. But the difference between classes A-B-C is difficult to find, even upon close examination. But the difference in price is very noticeable.

In general, no one has come up with anything fundamentally new in the field of washing modes and, from operating experience, we can say that the quality of washing depends on the correctly selected program and the detergents used. The washing class does not really affect this indicator.

Noise level

IN technical specifications washing machines indicate two noise levels: during washing and during spinning. Happy is the one who has a dedicated technical room in which all noisy equipment can be installed Appliances. They can ignore this indicator. For those who install a washing machine in an apartment or house, and even try to run it at night, during the discounted tariff, the noise level is a very important point.

The automatic washing machine will not interfere even at night if the noise level during spinning does not exceed 70 dB, but it is better if this figure is lower. There are several models that can be considered the best according to this criterion:

  • LG F1296SD3. Load 4 kg, noise level during washing 47 dB, during spinning 67 dB.
  • LG F1020ND1. Load 6 kg, noise during washing 54 dB, during spinning 64 dB.
  • AEG L6FBG48S. Load 8 kg, noise level during washing 50 dB, during spinning 70 dB.
  • Gorenje W 6843. At 6 kg, noise 55/70 dB.
  • Bosch WIS 24140. 7 kg, noise 56/70 dB.

To reduce the level of vibration and noise, it is worth putting vibration-damping pads under the legs. They will allow you to reduce the noise a little more - due to the fact that the part that is transmitted through vibrations is cut off.

Water consumption

For a washing machine to be truly economical, it also needs to consume as little water as possible. This is another resource whose prices are constantly rising. With this indicator, not everything is so simple. Sometimes the technical specifications indicate the water consumption per wash - they just cost liters. But this is incorrect - the load on machines varies, so it is more reasonable to calculate the water consumption per kilogram of dry laundry. Some manufacturers or some online/shops indicate this characteristic as such.

If not, you can divide the indicated total expense by maximum load tank. This way the comparison more accurately reflects the real state of affairs.

Number of programs and additional functions

To finally choose an automatic washing machine, look at the list of available programs. It’s clear that I want there to be as many of them as possible. But there is a strict pattern - the more programs, the higher the cost. And you won’t use all of them. Some are turned on once - see what kind of mode it is, others are not used at all. If you have a limited budget, it makes sense to limit yourself to the minimum.

What must be required

It’s easy to decide on the required set of functions. Eat basic programs which are used by almost everyone:

It’s not bad if it is possible to add an additional rinse or a separate spin cycle without washing. This will be useful for families with children or asthmatics/allergy sufferers.

Pre-washing/soaking/bio-mode can be useful. These are all names of the same algorithm, in which before washing the laundry is kept for 15-20 minutes in soapy water without heating. This allows you to wash heavily soiled items.

Leak protection

If you live in an apartment building, the fear of drowning your neighbors below in the background is always present. That’s why it’s scary to leave a running washing machine unattended. But there are smart machines that control the water level during washing. If it drops for no reason (water pumping is not turned on), the machine blocks the flow of water and stops the program.

There is protection against leaks of only the housing or only the hoses, and there is complete protection, with the installation of sensors and valves at the inlet and outlet of the hoses, the inlet and outlet of the housing. In general, a good thing, but if this option fits into your budget.

Delay start timer

This option will be useful for those who have . Using this function, you can reschedule washing for the duration of the discounted tariff, and do not have to keep track of the time yourself, and do not wait for this very preferential time to arrive.

You just need to look at how long you can postpone the start. The longest transfer is 24 hours. There is no longer one yet, and even then not everyone can postpone it for such a period of time. Some models (with electronic control) allow you to set the delay down to the minute, others only have certain time intervals. For example, 3 and 9 o'clock.

Drying

If there is no space in the apartment to install a dryer or a separate drying machine, the drying mode can help. At this time, the laundry is turned over in the drum and blown with warm air.

Some models allow you to set only the duration of this mode, others control the condition of the laundry and turn off automatically when a certain humidity is reached.

List of additional modes of automatic washing machines

In addition to the above modes, which are found in about a third of units, there is also a fairly solid list additional features. They are clearly not required, but may be useful to someone:

These are all the main points thanks to which you can choose an automatic washing machine that will fully satisfy your needs.
