On November 6, a new version of the iGuides application appeared with a long-awaited discount section in the App Store. Now users will be able not only to read high-tech news, device reviews, analytics and other familiar sections, but also find out information about price reductions for games and applications. Notifications about discounts, as well as the algorithm for compiling lists, are implemented for the first time in a Russian-language news application, so there is still a lot of work, pleasant changes and new functions ahead. In the meantime, we decided to compare the new iGuides with four popular discount services: Appsfire, AppShopper, AppRus and AppZapp.

A special feature of Appsfire is that it compiles its own application ratings so that the user can be confident in the quality. All programs and games receive a score from 1 to 100 points depending on popularity, number of downloads, and reviews. Appsfire offers information about daily discounts, app store news, themed collections of apps, discounts by category, as well as interesting apps found by users. In addition, you can create a favorites list with interesting applications or a wish list so that the service notifies you about price reductions for programs and games of interest. All this is presented in a customizable ribbon interface, where the user can add to the screen what is interesting to him.

Unfortunately, it was left without a mobile application, and the only client for the iPhone, due to the requirements of the App Store, focuses on social functions and does not offer such convenient tools for searching for applications as the browser version. However, everyone who is not averse to learning about discounts in Safari should be attracted by applications for iOS and Mac, division by category and popularity, information about new products, updates, programs and games that have become free or are being sold at discounts. Even though searching for discounts is not the main function of the iGuides mobile app, it does this task well. With the caveat that we are talking about undemanding users. The application has a general list of programs and games at reduced prices, a wish list for receiving notifications about discounts on applications of interest, and a search by category. Not so much compared to specialized services, but there is all the necessary information. Some may write this down as a disadvantage, others will like the simplicity and convenience when you don’t have to rack your brains on how to properly configure the service and understand dozens of menu items.

Behind the awkward name is a useful application that collects discounts on groceries and children's products. The application shows the supermarkets that are nearby. The list of stores is impressive. Among them are “Pyaterochka”, “Magnit”, “Lenta”, “Magnolia”, “Daughters-Sons” and a dozen more supermarkets - there is probably something from the list in your area. The list can be sorted in several ways for your convenience: by distance from your location (you can limit the maximum distance: from 100 meters to 10 kilometers) or by price. In addition, there is a handy map inside, as well as a compass and various markers for shops and pharmacies. Choose what is convenient for you.

Thanks to the availability of current prices in the application, the user can easily calculate the total cost of expenses. Managing a family budget will be much easier. By the way, if, for example, you are only interested in certain stores, you can search for products only in them. Nobody forces you to go where you don’t like. And so that you don’t forget to go to the store for shopping, the application will remind you about this with a push notification as soon as you are nearby.

Myconomy is the ideal application that will make shopping not only more convenient, but also more economical. The latter, as you might guess, concerns both time and money. This app is primarily focused on finding clothes. It does not provide as convenient tools as the previous program in this review. In particular, you cannot find a list of products with prices and discounts here: the search is carried out only with an accuracy of the product category in a specific store chain. On the other hand, choosing clothes in any case requires viewing many options and trying on.

“Wizee Shopping” will help you find a specific store not only by indicating the address and name of the shopping center, but also by marking the desired pavilion in this center on the diagram. By the way, maps of all floors of shopping centers are available in a special section of the application.

In addition, the program has a directory of stores. When you go to the desired one, in the “Discounts” tab you can see descriptions of current promotions, if any. Alas, all these descriptions are quite general and will not give an idea of ​​​​the benefits when buying trousers, a jacket or a blouse. “Wizee Shopping” will rather set the direction for action, but you will have to deal with the details on the spot.

The application has a trivial name, but the developers are responsible for it: perhaps this is the most universal application for searching for discounts in a review. There are groceries, clothing, sporting goods, household chemicals, and medicines in pharmacies - the list goes on. The above, however, does not mean that you can be content with this program, ignoring everything else in this review: in some details, “Discounts” will be weaker. For example, in this program you cannot view individual subcategories of products or types of clothing; there are only “Products” and “Clothing”. You won't be able to see stores on the map either.

The Discounts app has a list of stores and a list of product categories. You can search in either one or the other, but, say, asking to see discounts on meat products at Pyaterochka will not work. All individual products are listed with the current price, although the discount amount is not always displayed. You can add the desired products to your favorites, but the list generated in this way will not contain all the prices and the total cost of planned purchases.

For our taste, “Discounts” is heavily overloaded with advertising, including one that pops up on the entire screen.

Despite what you might think when reading the name of this app, it is just a guide to discounts on alcoholic drinks, strong and not so strong. Alcoscanner has only three categories: beer, wine and spirits. By going to the desired section, you can refine the list to be displayed, for example, by marking only champagne in wines or whiskey in spirits. The list of wines, however, does not indicate whether it is dry or semi-sweet - this information is only available when going to the detailed description of the product.

The program gives you the opportunity to look at stores with discounts on drinks nearby. The map will indicate the number of such offers in each of the marked retail outlets. The lists have an interesting option to view the recent price changes for a specific item. Lists can be sorted by newness of offers, price and distance to the store.
