Yandex.Mail was organized together with the search service in 2000. Now it's quite famous and popular Post service in the CIS.

Registering a Yandex.Mail mailbox

If you choose Nyandex mail, registering there is as easy as shelling pears. First of all, you need to open the Yandex portal.

At the top of the page, in the right corner there will be a “Yandex mail login” form with a link to create a mailbox.

You can also immediately open the postal service page and click the “Registration” button.

Anyone can log in via social networks (, Facebook, Twitter Google etc.).

Clicking on the “Create a mailbox” button will redirect the user to a page with a registration form, where you will need to enter some personal data.

1. FULL NAME. can be anything, even if you entered someone else's data. Real first/last name is required for work mailboxes only. In addition, they greatly facilitate the search for a specific addressee.
2. The system offers several login options, formed from a first and last name, but nothing prevents you from using your own established nickname or coming up with a new one.
3. The password should be strong enough and easy to remember. It is recommended to use Latin characters with lower and upper case and numbers in one password.
4. You can attach a phone number to your mailbox. This will provide the ability to quickly restore access in the event of hacking attempts. There is also the option to assign a security question instead of attaching a phone number. For the sake of example, only this will suffice.
5. The User Agreement and Privacy Policy must be accepted. Without this, creating mail is impossible. Follow the links to view the contents of these agreements.
6. The registration process is completed by clicking this button.

Note! To confirm that registration is not done by a robot, you will need to enter a captcha.

Actually, this is the whole registration for Yandex.Mail. It is Yandex mail that allows you to create a new mailbox in the shortest possible time.

After this, you can begin setting up the box.

Setting up a new mailbox

Immediately after creating an address, the system will prompt you to go through several steps to set up your own mailbox. The first one is adding a label for letters.

1. To create a new label, you will need to check the checkbox next to the “new label” field.
2. Set the name of the label.
3. Select the color of the label.
4. Click “Next” to move to the next setup step.

You can add new tags in unlimited quantities.

Subsequently, you can edit existing labels, set rules, delete and add them in the mailbox settings.

The next step is to add a mailbox. Using this option, all letters received to the specified mailbox will be redirected to the Yandex.Mail address.

A panel with a choice of page colors is available at the bottom of the screen throughout the setup.

The third step allows you to configure your personal information.

1. Select the postal address that will be displayed in the letter to the recipients (yandex.ru, ya.ru).
2. Adjust the name that email recipients will see.
3. Select a signature that will be automatically added to the end of each letter.
4. Upload an avatar for easier identification.
5. Click next and proceed to the next setup step.

This setting can also be changed in your account settings.

The fifth step once again offers the option to attach a phone number.

If necessary, indicate the number and enter the confirmation code from SMS; if not, click “Add later.”

The mailbox setup is complete.

In the future, mail settings can be called up using the inconspicuous link indicated in the image.

In the menu items you can control the visual design theme of the postal service page and other important settings.

In particular, this is where folders and tags are added.

Just select the appropriate menu item on the left side of the page – “Folders and tags”.

The left side of the settings block is dedicated to folders. Here you can delete, add, clear and create rules for them.

To add a folder, just click the “New Folder” button, give it a name and approve the creation with the “Create Folder” button.

You can just as easily delete it by highlighting it and pressing the corresponding button.

Working with labels works in exactly the same way, only to create them you will need to set the color of the label along with the name.

Now the mailbox is finally ready to receive letters.

In addition, all settings are duplicated in the drop-down panel that appears when you click on the gear icon in the upper corner of the page, next to the account name.

The buttons in this panel redirect to the corresponding tab of the previously mentioned settings menu.

It was only a matter of time before email apps appeared on mobile platforms.

Yandex.Mail has versions for Android smartphones/tablets, as well as for Apple products (, iPad, some iPod models).

Not long ago, Yandex email received a new interface.

Now it is simpler and clearer. Swipes have been added to manage the list of letters (to the right - “read”, to the left - “delete”).

The application began to look more concise, and due to the colored “backgrounds” under the lines with letters, it became even more colorful.

From now on, the ability to perform actions with several letters at the same time is also available.

Another important advantage is that the application works offline.

Changes made by the user are synchronized with the server the first time they connect. There are also several filters, which are unfortunately fixed.

You won't be able to add your own filtering.

In addition, the application still cannot get rid of its main drawback - the inability to attach accounts of other email services.

Users can only work with the box.

This fact is somewhat compensated by the possibility of linking other services to the mailbox using and adding users to one application.

Which, I must say, is quite fair, given the opportunities that this Google email service offers. However, Yandex Mail provides it with worthy competition.

In order not to be unfounded, below I will try to touch on all the most useful and important components of the Yandex Mail functionality (which, I must say, is very extensive), including security, working with letters, a built-in translator, changing themes and a whole bunch of other useful features. If you are patient, you will learn about all the nuances below.

How to create Yandex mail

On the Internet, the postal services market has long been subject to serious competition, and RuNet is no exception. Along with Gmail, large online services like Rambler and Mail.ru, which I myself once used, have their share of the pie.

Globally free email Yandex, of course, is not yet an undisputed favorite, however, it shows very high rates of development even in comparison with such monsters as Yahoo Mail, which, by the way, is not particularly popular in the Russian-language segment.

In the course of competition, postal services try to keep up with the times, constantly providing new opportunities. The main criteria for meeting modern requirements to the maximum can probably be considered simplicity, user-friendliness of the interface, security and readiness to quickly fulfill user wishes.

All these advanced developments are fully inherent in the Yandex mail service, as I will try to convince you of during today’s story. By the way, one of its most useful features can rightfully be considered ability to create mail for a domain, which we will certainly talk about in more detail in future publications.

How to register with Yandex Mail and create a mailbox

By the way, if you have your own email account, you will simultaneously gain access to all numerous Yandex services (), which is one of the decisive advantages. Therefore, to create an account, the easiest way is to go directly from the main page of Yandex.ru by clicking on the link "Get mail" in the upper right corner:

You may also have to work a little hard on creating a login, since Yandex Mail has a huge number of registered users and, perhaps, the username you want is already taken, which you will be immediately notified about when you try to add it.

At the same time, the form filling wizard will give you a small list of still free logins, of which you will probably like one. If not, then go through your options until a green checkmark appears next to the corresponding column, indicating that the login you have chosen is free.

Next, I strongly advise you to enter your mobile phone number, especially if the mailbox you are creating is planned as an important component of correspondence with business partners or incoming letters will contain strictly confidential information. Using a registered phone will make it easier to restore access to your account in the event of an unexpected force majeure.

In this case, you need to enter your mobile phone number with the country code at the beginning (since I live in Estonia, the screenshot above shows +372 as an example; for Russia, as you probably know, it’s +7), and then click on the button “Get code” and enter the code numbers received via SMS in the field that appears. This will confirm that you are the owner of the number.

And further. Before you click on the “Register” button, I would like to draw your attention to one more important point. You must decide for yourself whether you will create Yandex Wallet as your payment system. Since this concerns the financial aspect, you confirm this option separately or refuse it by unchecking the checkbox, which is activated by default (previous screenshot).

If for some reason you do not want to give out your mobile phone number or your email is not intended to receive archival correspondence, then do it the old fashioned way, namely click the link "I do not have a phone" and select a security question from the drop-down menu, to which enter any answer (there is an option for your own question):

At the end of these movements (no matter which option you chose, with or without indicating your phone number), click on the registration button, after which the process will enter the final phase.

Mailbox options in Yandex

First the system will redirect you to Passport Yandex page, where you can make settings for your entire account. Here you will find a whole list of different email options. mail (aliases) with the same login that was specified during registration (in the example in the screenshot, this is “goldbusinessnetcom”). These addresses differ only in the content of the second part, coming after the dog symbol @ (yandex.ru, yandex.ua, ya.ru, etc.):

A significant part of them belong to different domain zones (after all, Yandex works not only in RuNet), corresponding to one or another state: Russia (.ru), Belarus (.by), Ukraine (.ua), Kazakhstan (.kz), Estonia (. ee), and so on.

This is done so that it is impossible to use the same login during registration, regardless of the user’s territorial affiliation, which would create confusion. According to this scheme, for example, mailboxes " [email protected]" And " [email protected]" will not belong to different persons, but to one (and it does not matter where he is registered from).

Don't worry, it won't cause you any inconvenience. You can use any e-mail, all letters will still be available for each of them. It would also be a good idea to indicate your mobile phone number, which will be useful in the future in case of restoring the entire account if for some reason you lose control over it. All these actions will certainly increase the level of protection, however, we will talk about security separately.

If some time after registration you decide create a new mail on Yandex, then you can easily do this by repeating the procedure described above. Formally, the number of accounts you can create for personal needs is not limited, so you can open several accounts for yourself at once.

However, here you need to keep the following in mind. If you link the same mobile phone number to a new profile each time in order to increase its protection, then you will not be able to create more than 10 boxes. If you need more, you will have to specify other numbers.

Of course, without linking phones, there are no restrictions on the number of email addresses, but in this case, new additional accounts will not receive maximum protection. Therefore, carefully weigh the pros and cons of this or that option.

How to log in and out of your account

After registration, you can log in both from the main web page and from the Yandex Mail page (I remind you that when you log in, you get access to all services at once):

The “Someone else’s computer” checkbox is provided for those cases when you decide to log into your account from a device that you do not control on an ongoing basis. If you check the box, this allows you to log in only until the browser is closed, after which the session will be ended. Be sure to take advantage of this opportunity to enhance security.

After you click the “Login” button, you will be taken to Inbox page, where you will see a service interface with the necessary options and, of course, a complete list of letters arriving in your email inbox. Naturally, there is simply no point in fully describing the functionality of this email service, but I will definitely mention below the most important and interesting, in my opinion, features and settings that make it easier to read and parse correspondence.

Switching between mailboxes (login to mail via login)

If you have several Yandex mailboxes in active use, then you can easily switch between them by logging into each of them only once.

First you need to log in to one of your accounts, and then profile menu, which is located in the upper right corner of any page of the Mail interface, add others (click on the plus, then each time consistently enter the login and password of the desired account):

All email boxes can be opened in adjacent tabs. Even after closing a tab, you will remain logged in to the corresponding account (and will be able to return to it essentially through a login without entering a password) until you intentionally exit or clear cookies in the browser. An extremely convenient feature that allows you to avoid having to log out of one account every time to log in to another.

A targeted exit from your Yandex mail account is carried out from the same profile menu, which contains the “Exit Yandex services” item:

How to recover your Yandex mail password

Now let’s look at a situation where the password for an email account is forgotten or lost. These words may make you shiver. Especially if, as you think, the most important business correspondence and other related information may be lost. But in fact, everything is fixable, and the password can be recovered. Similar cases are also provided for, so the authorization form contains a link “I can’t log in”:

It is present everywhere, so almost all online services, large and not so large, are trying to put various kinds of obstacles to this undesirable phenomenon. How to unsubscribe from mailings

Of course, spammers are one thing, and those who correctly use mailing lists as an e-mail marketing tool, following all the rules, are quite another. One of the main requirements is that each newsletter letter contains the opportunity to unsubscribe from it:

But usually, to do this, the user has to follow a link to third-party sites. Yandex has introduced a very useful feature that allows you to unsubscribe from the mailing list with one click on the button of the same name, which appears in the toolbar on the open letter page:

But this applies only to legal messages that contain an unsubscribe link; in messages with elements of spam, there is usually no such link, and therefore there is no way to use the Yandex button. For spam, there are more radical methods (the Spam Defense I mentioned, coupled with the active actions of the users themselves).

What else is useful in the Yandex Mail functionality?

In the final section of this manual, we will look at those features and utilities that are still, so to speak, behind the scenes, but their use can greatly facilitate working with correspondence in general.

For example, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that at the very top of the Yandex Mail interface there are links "Contacts", "Calendar", "Disk" And "Money". It is these Yandex services that are very often the most in demand in conjunction with Mail, so users get easier access to them, although from the menu next to them, by clicking on the button with three horizontal stripes, you can call up a list of all significant services for transition:

Note. Yandex requires access to your social network profile in order to connect it to your mail. Yandex will not perform any actions with your profile without your knowledge.

Switching between boxes

If you use several mailboxes on Yandex, you can switch between them without entering your username and password:

You can choose an account in Mail, Passport and other Yandex services that support this feature. The selected account is considered the main one: with it you will be authorized on services that do not yet support switching.

You can add a maximum of 15 accounts to the list. To remove an account from the list, switch to it and follow the Exit link. The current account will disappear from the list and you will automatically switch to the next one.

To remove multiple accounts from the list, follow the link Add user, click the icon in the top left corner and click the icon to the right of the account you want to remove.

Sign out of your mailbox

Open the account menu in the top right corner of the screen and click the Sign Out button.

If you forgot to sign out of Mail on someone else's device, open the page and in the block Login history and devices click link Sign out on all devices.

Attention. For subsequent access to Yandex services, you will need to re-enter your login and password on each device.

To change your Yandex password, open the account menu in the upper right corner of the screen and click the Change password button.
