How to make calls from Mac to mobile phones? - Connect program. How to record phone calls on Mac Can you make calls from a MacBook?

If you have a computer running OS X, then I think you have already called your friends and colleagues using FaceTime more than once. The sound quality of such a call, both audio and video, is many times better than a regular phone call. Moreover, it is fast, simple and convenient.

Good habits stay with us for a long time (if not forever) and therefore, once again, when I wanted to call, I encountered a problem: my interlocutor did not have an Apple device, so the call had to be made from a phone. But you know that mother laziness is insidious. And even reaching into your pocket or reaching your hand to the table with an iPhone is a thankless task...

Apparently, developer Shreyas Siravara encountered the same problem, so he decided to get out of the situation in a fairly ordinary way for a programmer: make his own application, with which you could make calls from your Mac to regular phones.

The Connect app is fairly simple to use: you connect your iPhone to your Mac via Bluetooth, and then select the person you want from your contacts list. One simple press of the call button will start the call.

But let's take things in order. After launching the Connect application, you will be prompted to create an iPhone-Mac pair. To do this, you need to activate Bluetooth in your Mac's settings ( System Settings- Bluetooth - Enable), and then do the same on your smartphone (Settings - Bluetooth - Enable). You will see your smartphone in the application window (if this does not happen, repeat the search by clicking on “Try Again”). To establish a connection between them, click the button next to the name of your iPhone “Pair and Connect”, and after a few seconds the connection will be established.

Now, in the menu bar at the top, you will have a new icon with a handset symbol. Everything is ready, you can make your first call. To do this, click on the application icon and allow Connect to receive data from your contact list. After that, in the search field, start typing the contact's name, and then click on its icon or number to make a call. Your iPhone will begin dialing the caller, and you will hear all sounds (beeps, voice of the interlocutor) on your Mac. Just like you will need to speak into the microphone of your computer, i.e. without interacting with the smartphone in any way.

It's really convenient. The application is designed nicely, although it does not have many different windows. As an additional bonus, the smartphone's charge status is shown on the application icon. Automatically knows how to establish a connection each subsequent time after the connection is broken (the computer went into sleep mode or you returned to it, getting into the signal coverage area) quite quickly.

But, of course, there were some downsides. The sound quality leaves much to be desired (although this is more likely a matter of connection/coverage quality), and in a room with little furniture, your interlocutor will hear an echo, sometimes quite noticeable, which is not the case when calling via FaceTime. And second: if you use any other applications that connect your Mac and iPhone via Bluetooth, only one will work. For example, Bluetooth Screen Lock, which I had already become accustomed to, no longer noticed my leaving the computer, and as a result, did not block it, keep this in mind when installing Connect.

P.S. It should be noted that Connect works not only with Apple smartphones. Theoretically, this could be any phone with a Bluetooth module.

How to turn off calls from iPhone to Mac with OS X Yosemite?

The very hour has come when Apple released updated iOS versions and OS X Yosemite, which introduced the function of redirecting calls and messages from your mobile devices on a desktop system. Despite some advantages of merging Mac, iPhone and iPad, not all users liked it.

While you can still make friends with some merging points and even understand their usefulness for yourself, not everyone will want to get along with calls. Especially if you're already reaching for your iPhone to take a call when a call pops up at the same time. For those who always have their phone with them, this can be an intrusive and useless feature.

Please note that by stopping calls from your iPhone to your Mac, you will also stop your Mac from making outgoing calls using your iPhone.

Disable calls from iPhone on OS X Yosemite

To stop your smartphone's calls from syncing with your Mac, you need to open your FaceTime options. This sounds a little strange, but remember that FaceTime in OS X also comes with VoIP calling, so it makes sense that Apple built the option there.

  • Open the FaceTime app on Mac
  • Open the FaceTime menu in the top bar and select Settings
  • On the first Settings tab, uncheck the "iPhone (Cellular Calls)" option
  • Then iPhone calls will stop coming to Mac

  • All that remains is to close the FaceTime settings and the program itself

This will prevent call notifications from appearing on your Mac and will not affect other FaceTime features or your ability to make audio or video calls in the program.

In fact, the function is very useful and convenient, but it is best to use it sparingly. For example, provide call synchronization only on some two devices. After all, all unnecessary iOS devices can also be disconnected from this synchronization, so that you don’t flinch from notifications on all devices every time you make a call.

Why Windows 10 should be used with an SSD instead of an HDD

When Microsoft released free update For users of Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 before Windows 10, many used a regular hard drive. The trend is still difficult to break. It's time to understand why though SSD is better HDD for both the system and you.

5 reasons not to switch to Google Chrome

I discovered that the Glavred and Streak services do not have extensions for Firefox. I thought maybe it was time to switch to Chrome since it already has a following. After all, you just need to get used to the new browser, just as I once got used to Firefox after Maxthon.

7 points about Windows 10 from a consumer: leaving the porcupine's path

Greetings, tile brothers! Today, banners... Hmm... Hmm, excuse me, I just remember with nostalgia those good times when all the owners of Apple smartphones were fanatics with a special orientation, the owners of the green robot were “rogues,” and the idealists of the “window phone” were simply strange individuals.

15 reasons to forget Windows 8 and return to Windows 7

This is not a call for you to immediately uninstall Windows 8, nor is it a study at all. Just a small reminder of how much I regretted my decision to install this system. Realization did not come immediately.

  • Hi all. To begin with, as always, I have an interesting “story on the topic” for you.

After purchasing the iPhone 6 Plus, I was wondering what ringtone I had installed. I’m calling my phone from another number, when suddenly the iPad in the next room starts making sounds... At the same time, the iPhone is silent. I was in a stupor for about 5 minutes. Started climbing in iPhone settings. Only after some time did I realize that for some reason the iPad was in call mode. Somehow this innovation of iOS 8 even slipped my mind. To prevent this from happening to you, I decided to write detailed instructions about calls and SMS...

Let's consider different cases. First of all, on your iPhone, turn on Settings->FaceTime->iPhone Cellular Calls:

Now you can continue setting up on other devices.

How to make and receive calls from an iPad (iPod Touch) with an iPhone

    Requirements:

    • iPhone and iPad updated to iOS 8
    • iPhone and iPad are on the same Wi-Fi network
    • iPhone and iPad are tied to the same Apple ID

Let's go to iPad settings. Settings->FaceTime->iPhone Cellular Calls. Turn on the switch if it is not on. By default, by the way, it is enabled. Also opposite telephone number there must be a check mark.

If the iPhone is locked at the time of the call (this is how the system understands that it is most likely not at hand), then incoming call sent to two devices at once. This is what it looks like:

You can take calls on both iPad and iPhone.

To make a call from an iPad, you need to go to FaceTime and, opposite the caller’s last name or phone number, click the handset icon.

The iPad will write that the call is coming through the iPhone.

How to make and receive calls on Mac with OS X if you have an iPhone

    Requirements:

    • iPhone and Mac updated to iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite respectively
    • iPhone and Mac are on the same Wi-Fi network
    • iPhone and Mac are tied to the same Apple ID

You need to log in via FaceTime in OS X. After that, leave a checkmark next to the phone number.

This is all. Now when you make calls to your iPhone, which may be lying around in the farthest corner, the call will go directly to your Mac. However, it is not necessary to launch the FaceTime application.

After lengthy tests, I noticed that in OS X the call notification is delayed by a couple of seconds and the melody continues to play even after the caller hangs up and it is no longer possible to receive the call, although the corresponding button is available. I guess it depends on the speed of your Internet... Although there is no such problem on the iPad.

How to Receive and Reply SMS on iPad, Mac and iPod Touch with iPhone

This functionality appeared in iOS 8.1 and we have already received several questions on this topic in the comments on the website. I will answer in detail.

    Requirements:

    • iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Mac updated to iOS 8.1 and OS X Yosemite respectively
    • iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Mac are on the same Wi-Fi network
    • iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Mac are tied to the same Apple ID

The setup is simple. On your iPhone, go to Settings->Messages->Message Forwarding.

We see there all our devices that are linked to an Apple ID and logged in to the iMessage application. We turn on the checkbox next to the device from which we want to receive or send messages.

    A message will appear:

After some time (for me a few seconds) a code will be sent to the iPad.

We enter this code on the iPhone and click the “Allow” button. Now you can send SMS messages from your iPad and receive them using your iPhone.

This is done in the iMessage application. Let's start a new conversation. And if the contact in your list is not linked email address, which is an active Apple ID, then you can only send an SMS or MMS message. You will understand this by the gray text SMS/MMS in the text entry field.

Setting up and sending messages in OS X is completely similar.

How to receive or send SMS from iPad if there is no iPhone?

This is a very common question that also needs to be answered. Despite the fact that you can insert a SIM card into the iPad and use it to connect to LTE and 3G networks, there is no way to receive or send SMS to this SIM card using iOS.

I recently asked myself the question of at least receiving SMS, but there are no normal solutions. The crutch solutions are:

    1. SwirlySMS free - package from Cydia. You need jailbreak and iOS 6. :) I understand that the package is not updated?

    2. SMS center - application in App Store, which allows you to send SMS for money. Cannot be accepted. It seems to have deteriorated in the last 2 years, reviews are very bad.

At first, this question may confuse an unprepared user, but experienced users For Mac, this feature will not surprise you - it’s really convenient, especially when the smartphone is somewhere on the other side of the room.
